Recently, a Sony top executive have spoken about the importance of third-party games in making the PlayStation successful. Christian Svensson, who work as VP of second- and third-party content at Sony Interactive Entertainment, believes that the real strength of the console is in its game library, not just the hardware itself. He said that Sony has always been friendly to third-party game creators, and the company is doing a lot to keep that relationship strong. Over the current console generation, they funded over 120 game projects, supporting around 10,000 developers through various teams and subsidiaries.
