Samsung has broadened its affordable Galaxy M lineup with the Galaxy M47 5G, a new model making its debut in India. The company has not yet shared plans for a wider international release.

Display and Build

The handset is built around a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, a toughened glass more commonly found on pricier devices.

Performance and Storage

Under the hood, the Galaxy M47 5G runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 platform, which combines four Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores with four Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. This is the same chip that powers Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy A36 5G. Memory configurations include 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, paired with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. Users who need more room can expand capacity via a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 2TB.

Camera System and Battery

On the back, a triple-camera array houses a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 5MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 12MP front-facing camera. Powering the device is a substantial 6,000mAh battery compatible with 45W fast charging, and the phone also supports bypass charging to reduce heat while gaming or streaming on external power.

Software and Availability

Out of the box, the Galaxy M47 5G runs One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. Samsung is promising six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security updates, a commitment that brings long-term software support to a more accessible price point. The phone launches in Rogue Red and Blaze Blue color options. The base variant carries an effective starting price of ₹22,999 (approximately $243) after applying a coupon discount, with sales set to begin in India on July 4.
