Samsung Galaxy S27 series camera specifications begin to take shape
As Samsung turns its attention from its latest foldable launches to the next generation of flagship handsets, early details of the Galaxy S27 lineup’s camera systems are starting to emerge. Industry sources now suggest that the series will span four distinct models, with notable shifts in naming and imaging hardware compared to the current generation.
Shared foundations for standard models
The Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus are expected to share an identical camera configuration, according to information from Roland Quandt. Both devices will reportedly feature a 50 MP main sensor, sourced from Sony, which is described as a long-awaited upgrade over the components used in prior generations. They will also carry a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, which appears to be unchanged from the equivalent modules found in the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus. Details regarding the telephoto lenses on these two handsets have not yet been provided.
A new Pro tier replaces the Edge
In a strategic shift, Samsung is said to be positioning a Galaxy S27 Pro below the top-tier Ultra, moving away from the “Edge” branding that had been anticipated for this slot. Early indications point to the Pro model adopting the same 50 MP IMX855 sensor for its ultra-wide lens that the Ultra will use. While the main camera specifications for the S27 Pro remain unknown, leaks suggest a 50 MP telephoto camera with optical image stabilization, alongside a 16 MP selfie camera that also benefits from stabilization.
Ultra model keeps dual zoom systems in play
At the top of the family, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to include a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a secondary zoom lens, contradicting earlier rumors that suggested Samsung might eliminate the second telephoto entirely. As with the Pro variant, a 16 MP front-facing camera has been mentioned in preliminary reports. While these findings add clarity, final hardware decisions are still subject to refinement as development progresses toward a formal unveiling.
