GMKtec has detailed a new compact desktop family built around AMD’s latest mobile processors and discrete Nvidia graphics. Named the Neo-X1 series, the lineup splits into a standard model and a more powerful Pro variant, both using a motherboard-on-desktop (MoDT) design that integrates high-performance laptop-class chips into a small-footprint enclosure.
Two tiers of processing and graphics
The base Neo-X1 is built on the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, an upper-tier Dragon Range mobile processor, paired with an Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB desktop graphics card. Meanwhile, the Neo-X1 Pro steps up to the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, which adds 64 MB of 3D V-Cache to boost frame rates in cache-sensitive workloads. The Pro configuration gives the CPU a discrete Nvidia RTX 5070 with 12 GB of video memory, a pairing GMKtec positions as capable of driving most titles comfortably at QHD resolution.
Power delivery and thermal design
Cooling is handled by a factory-installed liquid cooler dedicated to the CPU. According to GMKtec, this allows the mobile processors to sustain up to 160 W of performance consistently. Both models house an 850 W Gold-rated power supply, a capacity that leaves headroom for the processor and graphics card even under simultaneous load.
Storage, memory and chassis
Internal expansion includes two M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs; configurations are expected to offer a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro as an option, alongside support for up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM. The chassis borrows design cues reminiscent of the Mac Pro’s cylindrical aesthetic, emphasising a compact vertical volume. GMKtec has yet to announce an exact launch date, but it has confirmed regional pricing. The standard Neo-X1 will start at CNY 11,999, which translates to roughly $1,773, while the Neo-X1 Pro will begin at CNY 16,999, or about $2,512.
