LG has introduced a new electronic paper display tailored for indoor commercial environments, combining advanced color reproduction with an untethered, slim design. The 32RS1Q-B is a 32-inch digital signage panel built on E Ink’s Spectra 6 technology, a detail later confirmed by E Ink via LinkedIn and mirrored in LG’s own specification sheet.

Color accuracy and indoor-only design

Spectra 6, which first appeared as a prototype during Display Week 2023 in Los Angeles, has since matured into mass production and already powers select digital picture frames. LG’s deployment marks one of its higher-profile signage applications. The panel is rated strictly for indoor use within a temperature range of 32 °F to 104 °F and relative humidity up to 70 percent. More rugged E Ink panels exist, though they typically cannot match Spectra 6’s vivid color output.

The 2560 x 1440 pixel canvas closely mimics a printed surface under ambient light, with its electronic paper structure becoming visible only at very close range. Content refreshes are possible but deliberately paced and accompanied by the characteristic flashing transition. This makes the display best suited for static or periodically updated visuals, including menu boards, hotel lobby promotions, retail advertisements, and similar settings. LG explicitly warns against placing the panel in direct sunlight, such as in storefront windows, to prevent overheating.

Portability and wireless power

Measuring no more than 0.7 inches deep and weighing 6.8 lbs, the display is straightforward to mount or reposition indoors. A built-in 72 Wh battery eliminates the need for a constant wired connection, reducing trip hazards and offering greater placement flexibility. According to LG, power draw while off sits at 0.5 watts, rising to a maximum of 6 watts during image updates. Based on those figures, the display should deliver at least ten hours of operation. A smart power-saving mode further holds consumption at 0.5 watts whenever the screen is idle.

The rear panel incorporates a magnetic Qi2 wireless charging interface designed primarily to extend runtime rather than fully recharge the internal battery. A compatible Qi2 power bank can wirelessly deliver up to 15 watts, while a dedicated USB Type-C port handles wired charging of the display itself.

Central management and connectivity

Multiple units can be administered through a centralized platform over WiFi, powered by a version of webOS customized for digital signage. Currently, data transfer relies on WiFi or USB Type-C, with Bluetooth pairing slated to arrive via a firmware update later in 2026. LG has not disclosed pricing, which is typical for project-oriented signage solutions where costs are negotiated based on volume and deployment scope.
