A new picture setting designed to give film and television studios detailed control over image processing is arriving on select 2026 television sets. LG has begun rolling out “Creator Original,” a mode that departs from the hands-off philosophy of existing neutral presets by letting content creators actively shape how their work appears on screen.
A shift from passive to active picture control
Conventional modes like Filmmaker Maker Mode have become popular for disabling modern post-processing effects—such as motion smoothing—to present movies in a more traditional, unaltered form. Creator Original pivots in the opposite direction. Instead of merely turning these tools off, it supplies studios with the ability to deliberately tune parameters including shadow detail, color balance, noise reduction, and motion handling. The goal is to reproduce the exact creative intent behind a piece, using the TV’s own processing engine as a controlled instrument rather than a hindrance.
Availability tied to premium 2026 OLED lineup
The mode is currently exclusive to the 2026 LG OLED evo W6, G6, and C6 series. LG announced pricing for the majority of this year’s range in March, with most G6 and C6 configurations positioned between $2,000 and $5,000. These models also support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, 12-bit image processing, and enhanced dynamic range control—features aimed at demanding home theater environments, though the premium cost may deter more casual viewers.
A launch timed with new streaming content
LG is introducing Creator Original in partnership with Prime Video, synchronizing the rollout with the streaming service’s upcoming Masters of the Universe movie. In a related software tie-in, owners of LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 or later can use a dedicated voice command via the LG Magic Remote: saying “I have the power” automatically surfaces content connected to the new release. The integration points toward broader efforts among hardware makers and streaming platforms to deliver carefully managed visual presentations directly in living rooms.
