Lenovo has quietly introduced one of the first laptops powered by Intel’s new Wildcat Lake processor family to the Chinese market. The Lecoo Air 14 pairs the unannounced silicon with an ultralight chassis, signaling how PC makers intend to deploy these efficiency-focused chips in highly portable designs. The notebook tips the scales at 990 grams (2.18 lbs) and measures 12.95 mm (1.29 cm) at its thinnest point, placing it firmly in the sub-1 kg category.
A new low-power processor arrives
At the heart of the device sits the Intel Core 5 315, a lower mid-range chip from the Wildcat Lake series. While Intel has not formally detailed the full lineup, early benchmark data indicates that these processors are positioned to compete with Apple’s A18 Pro silicon found in the rumored MacBook Neo. Independent testing of the related Core 7 350 suggests the architecture delivers competitive performance for its thermal envelope. The base configuration of the Lecoo Air 14 combines this processor with 12 GB of soldered LPDDR5 memory, which cannot be upgraded after purchase, and 512 GB of internal storage. Users can swap the factory SSD for a higher-capacity drive such as a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro.
Battery and connectivity details
Lenovo equips the laptop with a 50 Wh battery, which it rates for up to 16.8 hours of runtime under office workloads. Real-world longevity will naturally vary with screen brightness and usage patterns. The port selection includes three USB-C ports, two of which support 100 W Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 output, while the third is restricted to data. All three ports operate at 5 Gbps transfer speeds. A 3.5 mm audio jack rounds out the physical connectivity.
Display and market positioning
The 14-inch display sticks to a utilitarian specification: a 1920x1200 resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and a brightness rating of 300 nits. It does, however, cover 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut, making it adequate for general productivity and content consumption. This positions the screen slightly behind the panel expected in the MacBook Neo in terms of overall polish while still delivering accurate color for its class.
Lenovo is selling the Lecoo Air 14 in two storage variants. The 512 GB model is priced at CNY 4,088, or approximately $603, which undercuts the similarly Wildcat Lake-equipped Xiaoxin Air 13. A 1 TB configuration is also available locally. A wide international launch is considered unlikely, though the design could emerge in other regions under Lenovo’s IdeaPad branding.
