Lenovo has quietly expanded its 16-inch gaming portfolio with updated hardware configurations for the Legion 7 16IAX10. The move follows recent refreshes to the Legion Pro 5 series, which also gained new Intel processors and Nvidia graphics, although this latest update focuses purely on boosting CPU and GPU options rather than introducing an entirely new platform.

Processor and Graphics Upgrades

The centerpiece of the revision is the inclusion of Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, a newer Arrow Lake HX chip that replaces the previously available Core Ultra 9 275HX. In benchmark testing, the 290HX Plus delivers roughly a 7% uplift in CPU performance over its predecessor. Alongside the processor bump, Lenovo has upgraded the discrete graphics offering to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM, moving beyond the earlier 8 GB RTX 5070 configuration.

Previously, the Legion 7 16IAX10 was evaluated as a strong competitor to the Razer Blade 16, with review units featuring a Core Ultra 7 255HX and an RTX 5060 running at a 115 W total graphics power. The latest updates push the system further up the performance ladder, targeting users who require more headroom for demanding titles and creative workloads.

Availability and Regional Rollout

According to Lenovo’s PSREF database, the upgraded hardware will initially reach select markets, including Australia, India, Singapore, and the United States. However, listings on various Lenovo regional websites suggest a broader global release may eventually follow.

At present, the sole US configuration pairing the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus with the 12 GB RTX 5070 is priced at $3,139.99. This SKU includes 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 16-inch 1600p OLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits peak brightness in HDR mode. The premium over the base Legion 7 16IAX10 currently stands at $553, while the cost difference compared to a previous-generation Core Ultra 9 275HX model with the 8 GB RTX 5070 amounts to just $50—a marginal increase for notably stronger GPU memory capacity and faster processor performance.
