Ledlenser has launched the 25th Anniversary Series to mark the 25th anniversary of the Photon Pump V8. This flashlight is notable for its silver body and is considered among the first LED flashlights, arriving at a time when traditional brands like Maglite were still leading the market.
The Beginning of a Legacy
The compact Photon Pump was created by Zweibrüder Optoelectronics and became a cornerstone for the company. It featured LEDs in various colors and was small enough to attach to a keychain. Additionally, the Photon Pump gained popularity as a promotional item, frequently given as a gift.
Not Without Flaws
However, these flashlights weren't especially bright. They were notorious for their switches, with soft rubber buttons that would fail far too early. The material would often tear, leaving users to operate the flashlight with their fingernails. Moreover, many flashlights of that time used unusual battery types, like button cells or N cells.
Despite these issues, the Photon Pump, along with later models like the Salt Pump and Pepper Pump, contributed to the company’s growth. The product line has since expanded, and the faulty switches are no longer in use. While the main flashlight range has moved to higher-end offerings, as seen in our review of the Ledlenser P7R, the promotional items remained budget-friendly older models. A few years back, we even spotted a Ledlenser flashlight again. During IWA 2025, the company revealed plans for improvements, aiming to enhance their promotional products as well.
New Offerings on the Horizon
Now, several new products are making their debut. The anniversary series features two flashlights and a headlamp. The flashlights are the well-known Ledlenser P7R (2,000 lumens, 6,000 to 8,000 Kelvin, fixed color temperature) and the Ledlenser T2 (240 lumens, 6,000 to 7,500 Kelvin, fixed color temperature), both presented in a limited dark blue color. These models do not have the classic aluminum casing, as the older design isn’t being revived with improved components.
The Ledlenser T2 is designed as a compact keyring flashlight. In contrast, the P7R serves as a traditional flashlight, ideally carried in a holster on a belt. The T2 operates on an AAA battery, whereas the P7R features a built-in rechargeable battery that charges via USB Type-C.
Pricing Details
The official prices for these new flashlights are set at €50 and €120, respectively. One of the founding brothers has recently opted for a new beginning with his son. By late December, the first four flashlights named ZB1T, ZB4P, ZB6T, and ZB8T have been added to the Zweibrüder collection.
Both Ledlenser and Zweibrüder are set to present their products at IWA 2026 in Germany, alongside other flashlight brands like Acebeam, Fenix, Nitecore, and Olight. Zweibrüder will participate in the newcomer pitch, a special showcase for emerging companies.
