HP has quietly launched the 14-inch EliteBook 8 G2a globally, refreshing its compact business notebook with AMD’s latest Gorgon Point processors. The update arrives only months after the EliteBook 8 line was first expanded in March, when both the AMD-powered G2a and Intel-based G2i variants were announced.

Refined internals with a familiar chassis

Physically, the new model carries over much of the design language and dimensions of its predecessor. The aluminium-clad notebook still weighs approximately 1.44 kg and retains the configurable RJ45 Ethernet port across all stock keeping units, a detail that sets it apart from several other fixed-port selections. The display options and overall footprint are largely unchanged from the EliteBook 8 G1a 14, reflecting a deliberate choice to preserve an established, durable form factor.

Performance uplift and efficiency gains

Beneath the surface, the G2a introduces support for up to the Ryzen AI 7 450, an 8-core processor built on the Gorgon Point platform. Compared to the Ryzen 7 250 found in the previous generation, this chip is projected to deliver roughly 17% greater overall performance, with even larger deltas possible in certain benchmark scenarios. The platform refresh also promises improved energy efficiency, which should help extend runtime on the device’s integrated 68 Wh battery.

Configuration and regional pricing

Pricing varies considerably by specification and market. In the United Kingdom, the entry configuration pairs a Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440 processor with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD, starting at £1,449. A comparable model in the Eurozone featuring the Ryzen AI 5 435 begins at €2,259. Moving up the stack, a build with the Ryzen AI 7 450, 32 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and an 800-nit display is listed at €3,287. At the high end, HP offers a US configuration with the Ryzen AI 7 450, 64 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD for $5,872. These new listings position the G2a as a premium refresh that emphasizes steady generational progress and flexible enterprise configurations.
