A new enterprise-grade laptop set to arrive under the Dynabook brand will pair Intel’s next-generation mobile platform with a familiar business-first design ethos. The Portege Z40L-P, formally announced by the Japanese manufacturer, will be offered with Core Ultra X7 and Core Ultra X9 processors from Intel’s incoming Panther Lake family.
Processor configurations and integrated graphics capability
Dynabook has not yet disclosed which specific Panther Lake parts will populate the launch configurations. What is known is that all four existing Core Ultra X7 and Core Ultra X9 SKUs field the same 16-core blueprint, dividing the workload across four high-performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and four low-power cores. Each option is paired with an Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics processor that carries 12 Xe3 cores; in synthetic workloads the iGPU has shown the ability to trade blows with older discrete silicon such as the GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile, meaning light gaming and moderate content-creation loads should be well within reach. For deployments that do not demand that degree of compute, the Portege Z40L-P will also be configurable with lower-tier Panther Lake chips.

The notebook is built around a 14-inch WUXGA panel with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio tailored to productivity workflows. Dynabook has not yet confirmed whether higher refresh-rate options will be offered, nor has it detailed the underlying LCD technology; the preceding generation—which earned favourable marks in testing—relied on a 60 Hz IPS panel, and a similar choice appears likely given the machine’s corporate focus. Up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory can be specified, and storage is handled by an NVMe SSD topping out at 2 TB.
