Recent whispers about the Fujifilm X-T6
Just a few weeks ago, rumors suggested that the successor to the Fujifilm X-T5 would feature a completely new film simulation and redesigned control dials on the top of the body. FujiRumors has now uncovered further details about the next-generation mirrorless camera. Most notably, Fujifilm is expected to replace the NP-W235 battery with a new NP-W255 battery, which increases the battery capacity from 2,200 mAh to 2,550 mAh – a 16 percent increase.
Battery, video, and sensor improvements
The Fujifilm X-T6 is expected to be capable of recording 8K video, whereas the X-T5 was still limited to 6K video. Unsurprisingly, Fujifilm is expected to improve the autofocus and equip the camera with a new AI autofocus system, which will likely be significantly more reliable, especially when tracking subjects. Its also interesting to note that Fujifilm is expected to continue using a 40-megapixel X-Trans sensor, though its not yet known whether it will be the same sensor or a new one with the same resolution. In any case, this sensor is said to be paired with the latest Fujifilm X-Processor 6, which promises improvements in both speed and image quality.
Launch timeline and target audience
The Fujifilm X-T6 is expected to be officially unveiled in September 2026, nearly four years after the Fujifilm X-T5 was launched. The X-T series is aimed at enthusiasts looking for a high-quality mirrorless camera with a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, two SD card slots, and a flip-out display.
