Asus has introduced a new high-speed gaming display aimed squarely at the competitive esports segment. The ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace combines a compact screen size with an exceptionally fast refresh rate, a combination designed to maximize clarity and response in fast-action titles.
Panel and speed engineered for esports
At the core of the monitor is a 24.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Fast IPS panel, which can be overclocked to a 420 Hz refresh rate. Asus prioritizes frame-rate headroom and low input lag over higher resolution, a practical choice for games like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant where split-second reaction times can determine match outcomes. The panel is rated for a 1 ms gray-to-gray response time, with the ability to drop as low as 0.3 ms under specific testing conditions.
To maintain motion clarity at such high speeds, the display employs ELMB Sync (Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync), a strobe-based blur-reduction technology that operates simultaneously with adaptive sync. This allows the monitor to reduce ghosting while retaining support for NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium. Asus also includes Variable Overdrive 2.0, which dynamically adjusts pixel overdrive settings to match the current refresh rate and keep moving visuals sharp across a wide range of frame rates.
Color performance and AI-assisted tools
Beyond raw speed, the XG259QNSR Ace is specified to cover 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 115% of the sRGB color space, while carrying VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. These figures indicate a level of color volume and HDR brightness that should translate to vivid in-game visuals without leaving the esports-oriented feature set behind. Asus also integrates several AI-assisted utilities to enhance the competitive experience, including Dynamic Crosshair, Dynamic Shadow Boost, and AI Visual, each designed to improve target visibility and situational awareness during gameplay.
Connectivity and availability
For connectivity, the monitor provides one DisplayPort 1.4 input, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a two-port USB hub, and a headphone jack. Achieving the full 420 Hz refresh rate requires the DisplayPort 1.4 connection. Asus has confirmed that the Strix XG259QNSR Ace will be offered in both black and white color variants, though the company has not yet announced official pricing or a specific release date. The model joins a growing wave of ultra-high-refresh-rate 1080p displays targeting competitive gamers, building on the foundation set by previous esports-focused lines such as the ROG Swift PG248Q.
