Apple’s Beats Pill Bluetooth Speaker Gets FCC Approval, Launch Soon

Apple's renewed interest in the Beats Pill seems apparent, as the speaker recently cleared FCC certification in the U.S. The filing, which mentions model number A3211, confirms Bluetooth transmission in the 2.402-2.48GHz range, hinting at a possible launch in June.

Celebrity Endorsement Strategy

Apple has been subtly promoting the new Pill by leveraging celebrity endorsements. Notable figures such as basketball legend LeBron James, F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, soccer star Lionel Messi, and social media icon Kim Kardashian have been seen with the speaker in recent pictures.

Design and Features

Though specifics about the speaker remain undisclosed, leaks from the iOS 17.5 code indicate it will maintain the iconic "pill" design and introduce a new lanyard, a feature not present in previous models.

Historical Context and Future Expectations

This release signals a comeback for the Beats Pill series. The original pill-shaped speaker debuted in 2012, prior to Apple acquiring Beats Electronics. The lineup expanded with the Pill+ in 2015, which featured a Lightning charging port. After discontinuing the Pill+ in early 2022, Apple is now set to launch this new version. Consistent with Apple's recent design trends, the new Pill is anticipated to feature a USB-C charging port, advancements in Bluetooth technology, and other improvements compared to the nearly nine-year-old Pill+.
