We’re currently in a rather strange period regarding the release of new GPUs. Previously, fans eagerly anticipated the next generation of graphics cards, but their excitement has significantly waned following the disappointing releases of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. Although we can’t influence the stock situation surrounding the RTX 50 series or enhance the performance of the RTX 5080, there is still hope for the RX 9070/XT, which seem to be promising options.
Upcoming AMD Cards
AMD has confirmed that the new RDNA 4 graphics cards, likely the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, will hit the shelves in early March. Nonetheless, no specific date was provided during this announcement. However, thanks to Uniko’s Hardware, we now have some leaked information regarding the release date.
Release Date Leaks
The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT are expected to arrive on March 6. Notably, Nvidia plans to release the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti on February 20, which means Team Red is set to launch their RX 9070/XT approximately 15 days later. This is the extent of the information available from Uniko’s Hardware. We still don’t know when AMD will present the RX 9000 series or the specifics of the review embargo.
Speculation on Timing
That being said, we can speculate a bit. It seems plausible that AMD has postponed the RDNA 4 release to focus on software improvements, and they might be waiting for Nvidia’s reveal of the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti. This suggests that AMD could unveil the RX 9070/XT shortly after the RTX 5070/Ti goes on sale, making a late February event likely.
In terms of the review embargo, gamers can anticipate RX 9070/XT reviews to emerge a few days prior to the sales date of March 6.
As always, it’s wise to approach the launch and announcement dates for the RX 9070/XT with a degree of skepticism.
