Xiaomi has been working on a smartphone known by the codename 'zhuque'. It was initially believed that this would be the brand's debut buttonless MIX model. However, the company had actually experimented with a button-free smartphone about 1.5 years ago but decided against releasing it. Now, it seems that Xiaomi is once again preparing to introduce a device without physical buttons.
Discovering Xiaomi's 'Wangshu'
Leaving aside the 'zhuque' leaks, let's dive into Xiaomi’s first buttonless smartphone, codenamed 'Wangshu'. We have encountered some prototype images that were shared on the well-known Chinese forum, CoolAPK.
Xiaomi has a mysterious MIX smartphone named 'Wangshu'. This prototype lacked physical buttons and featured a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Additionally, it boasted an under-screen camera and supported 200W fast charging. Analysis of the MIUI code suggests that the codename 'Wangshu' corresponds to this prototype MIX device.
Images of the Wangshu prototype surfaced on the CoolAPK forum. The user @Einewill, who posted these images, also disclosed the device's technical specifications. Below, we include photos of this unique MIX smartphone:
The Technical Marvel of 'Wangshu'
This unique smartphone, marked with the MIX logo at its top and bottom, was devoid of physical buttons. Xiaomi had tested this button-free concept 1.5 years back. The 'Wangshu' featured a 2K 120Hz LTPO display and came equipped with a 4500mAh battery. Although there was significant interest in this device, Xiaomi decided not to launch it. As noted earlier, the device stood out with its 200W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities.
In essence, the 'Wangshu' was Xiaomi's inaugural buttonless smartphone. The Chinese manufacturer has experimented with multiple prototype MIX devices; however, none of them have been made available to consumers. Now, with the development of a new buttonless device under the name 'zhuque', there's hope that Xiaomi will move forward with this model, allowing users to experience this distinctive device.
Anticipation for 'Zhuque'
Personally, I find this type of smartphone very appealing. In the past, manufacturers focused on crafting products with cutting-edge features. Yet, lately, the smartphone market has become saturated with repetitive designs. We eagerly await the announcement of Xiaomi's special device codenamed 'zhuque'.
