Xiaomi has launched the Smart Door Lock 2 Pro in China, featuring 3D structured light facial recognition and an integrated large screen. This new model succeeds the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 and maintains a consistent design with other models in the series.
Features & Pricing
Equipped with a large electronic cat-eye display, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Pro allows users to observe the outside environment from inside their home. The cat-eye camera boasts a 160º ultra-wide-angle field of view. According to Xiaomi, the screen's design is more pleasing compared to traditional screen speakers, TVs, or other devices. Apart from the screen, this model closely resembles the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Face Recognition Edition. Its camera offers several features, including detecting unusual movements and sending alerts to the owner.
The device employs Xiaomi’s proprietary noise-reducing, fully automatic lock mechanism. It includes various sensors within the lock body to continuously monitor its status. Additionally, it features a direct-plug C-level lock core utilized throughout the structure. The lock is powered by both a lithium battery and dry batteries. The lithium battery, with a maximum capacity of 5,000mAh, supports cat-eye and face recognition functions for up to four months. Meanwhile, the four dry-cell batteries allow for up to four months of fingerprint and password unlocking. Together, this dual-battery system offers a total battery life of eight months.
Battery Management
The smart door lock employs a systematic approach to conserve dry battery life. When the lithium battery is fully charged, it powers the device until its charge drops to 10%. At this point, the lock enters a super power-saving mode. Once the lithium battery is depleted, the system automatically switches to the dry battery setup. Additionally, a Type-C cable can be used to connect to a power bank for temporary unlocking when the battery is completely drained.
Unlocking Options and Availability
The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Pro provides ten unlocking methods, including face recognition, fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth, long-term/periodic/one-time passwords, Xiaomi mobile phone, Xiaomi Watch, and encrypted NFC door card. A traditional mechanical key can also be used.
The smart door lock is priced at 2,299 yuan (approximately $321) and is available on the Chinese e-commerce platform Jingdong (JD.com)
