Xiaomi has teamed up with Qualcomm to launch the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, coming more than three months after the chipset was first introduced. Instead of integrating it into an extension of the Redmi 13 series, as many expected before the launch, Xiaomi has opted to use this new chipset in the Redmi A4 5G.
Details on the New Device
This smartphone serves as the successor to the earlier Redmi A3 and Redmi A3x, which currently sells for about $94 on Amazon. The new Redmi A4 5G is equipped with a 5G chipset, as indicated by its name, thanks to the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2. It also includes an Adreno 619L GPU and features eight CPU cores, including two dedicated performance cores.
Expected Features and Pricing
In addition to the chipset, Xiaomi is likely to include a substantial 5,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP rear camera with an auxiliary lens, and an 8 MP camera for selfies. The Redmi A4 5G will probably have a 6.8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720p; however, more details about the display specifications are still unknown. Reports suggest that Xiaomi plans to price the device between INR 9,000-10,000, which is approximately $107-$119. Sadly, there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the launch date so far.
