Xiaomi made a splash in the flip phone arena last year with the introduction of the Xiaomi Mix Flip. Recent reports indicate that the company is developing a new version. A recent leak from Digital Chat Station has provided insights into its main features and expected launch date. Here’s a summary of what we know so far about the upcoming device.
Key Features of Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Revealed
According to DCS, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will come with various significant enhancements. It’s likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, potentially making it the first flip phone to utilize this powerful processor. In terms of design, the new model is expected to keep a similar look to its predecessor, with minor upgrades to the external display. The brand is also reportedly making efforts to reduce the visibility of the screen crease. A notable upgrade is the rumored IPX8 water resistance rating, which would be a great improvement over the original Mix Flip. Additionally, the device is said to include “female-oriented customizations,” which may feature diverse color choices.
Battery and Charging Improvements
The battery capacity is anticipated to range around a 5,050mAh rated battery (with a common size of 5,100mAh), which is a bit larger than the previous model but smaller than earlier reports suggesting a 5,600mAh battery. DCS also indicated that the Mix Flip 2 will support 50W wireless charging, a functionality that was missing in the first version.
Camera and Display Features
When it comes to the camera department, the Mix Flip 2 is expected to have a dual rear camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel main sensor featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) and another 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, likely replacing the telephoto lens found in the original. Other anticipated specifications include a 6.85-inch foldable OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, NFC capabilities, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a sleek profile measuring just 7.6mm, weighing about 190 grams.
Expected Launch Timing
DCS has also mentioned that the launch of the Mix Flip 2 is projected for the second quarter of 2025, specifically between April and June. While a worldwide release is expected, similar to its predecessor, specifics about international availability are yet to be announced.
