Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi Pad Pro 5G, an enhanced version of the Wi-Fi-only model that debuted earlier this year. This new variant, announced by CEO Lei Jun, will feature 5G connectivity, which is currently missing from both the Chinese and global versions of the tablet.
Lei Jun's announcement was made via his X (formerly Twitter) account, suggesting that the 5G model will be available globally. Given that the tablet already incorporates a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor capable of 5G, it is unlikely that the hardware will be identical to the Wi-Fi-only model.
Redmi Pad Pro Specifications
The Redmi Pad Pro boasts a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The display can achieve a peak brightness of up to 600 nits and supports Dolby Vision. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Under the hood, it features an Octa-Core Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, clocked up to 2.4GHz, and an Adreno 710 GPU. The tablet comes with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2, expandable up to 1.5TB using a microSD card. It runs on an Android 14-based HyperOS.
Camera and Audio
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G is equipped with an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. It also includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. The audio experience is enhanced by quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support and dual microphones.
Dimensions and Connectivity
The tablet measures 280×181.85×7.52mm and weighs 571 grams. Connectivity options include optional 5G, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ac) on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB Type-C 2.0. It is powered by a 10,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.
