Dust and Water Resistance
Both the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are rumored to feature an IP69 dust and water resistance rating. This is an upgrade from the IP68 protection seen in previous models. The IP69 rating implies that the phone can endure high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning, offering superior ingress protection compared to IP68.
An IP69 rating means that the Xiaomi 15 series can survive at depths of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. In contrast, IP68-rated devices can withstand continuous immersion beyond 1 meter. This level of protection is crucial for devices that require frequent and intense cleaning. However, the enhanced protection might also benefit the phone in specific scenarios.
