Xiaomi has unveiled its Xiaomi 14 Ultra, indicating that the brand may soon move on to the Xiaomi 15 series. These new phones are expected to be released shortly after the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors make their debut. While there’s been some buzz about the Xiaomi 15 series, specific details remain scarce.
Camera Specifications
According to Weibo blogger @体验more, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will feature a triple-camera setup, headlined by a potent 50MP main sensor (likely the OV50K) that employs advanced TheiaCel technology for enhanced low-light performance and dynamic range.
The telephoto lens will incorporate a 50MP IMX882 sensor, which offers a minor resolution decrease compared to the OV64B when zoomed digitally. Nonetheless, it promises improved power efficiency and superior zoom capabilities over its predecessor.
Sensor Features
The standout feature is the main sensor, the OV50K, which boasts a sizable 1/1.3-inch format and 1.2-micron pixels for remarkable light capture. It supports functionalities like 4-in-1 pixel binning for better low-light performance, high frame rates, and even 8K video recording. This sensor is already utilized in devices such as the Honor Magic 6 Pro.
Display and Processor
Earlier reports suggest a redesign of the camera module into a square layout. The Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to sport a 2K resolution display with a micro-curved design. The device is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.
Regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, this forthcoming chip is reported to offer significant improvements over its predecessor. Reports indicate that the performance core of the SoC can operate up to 4.2GHz. Furthermore, the chip is said to exceed 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench. However, this new chip will be costly, and Chinese brands might struggle to keep their prices competitive. Consequently, an affordable flagship featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 seems unlikely.
