Xiaomi 15 Launches: Snapdragon 8 Elite, 50MP Leica Cameras, 5400mAh Battery

Xiaomi has just revealed their latest flagship device—the Xiaomi 15. This phone is claimed to be the most powerful standard edition yet, blending high-end specifications with a compact, luxurious design. With enhanced performance, exceptional display features, and a better in-hand feel, it stands out as a great choice for fans of flagship devices.

Specifications of the Xiaomi 15

The Xiaomi 15 features a compact 6.36-inch flat OLED screen, now with ultra-slim, symmetrical bezels measuring just 1.38mm. It has a resolution of 2670×1200, an LTPO variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz, and can reach a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, complete with full-brightness DC dimming. The display is equipped with Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass, which provides 10 times the drop resistance compared to the Xiaomi 14.

Performance and Operating System

At its core, the device runs on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It offers a 45% improvement in both single-core and multi-core performance when compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Thanks to Xiaomi HyperCore and a custom microarchitecture scheduler, app launch times are 45.7% quicker, significantly boosting user experience.

The Xiaomi 15 runs on HyperOS 2.0, built on Android, which guarantees a smooth and quick performance. The operating system includes several optimizations specifically designed for this compact flagship, such as advanced thermal management and improved system efficiency.

Camera Features

The camera system on the Xiaomi 15, developed in collaboration with Leica, features three Summilux 50MP lenses: a primary Light Fusion 900 sensor (1/1.3″, f/1.62, OIS), a 50MP ultra-wide sensor (Samsung S5KJN1, f/2.2), and a 50MP telephoto lens (Samsung S5KJN5, 1/2.75″, f/2.0, OIS) with floating focus and 5x optical zoom.

For selfies, it comes with a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40 camera located in the center punch-hole, capable of processing up to 4.3 billion pixels per second through AISP 2.0, which enhances dynamic photo sharing across popular social media platforms.

Battery and Design

Powering the Xiaomi 15 is a 5,400mAh battery, which supports 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. It also introduces 30W magnetic wireless charging.

The device utilizes Goodix Technology’s ultrasonic fingerprint recognition for quick, glare-free unlocking, even when hands are wet. Its design features an aviation-grade unibody aluminum frame with a four-curve wrap-around structure, ensuring a comfortable hold. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and retains long-lasting features like NFC and infrared remote control.

The Xiaomi 15 is offered in four standard colors: Lilac Purple, Light Grass Green, Black, and White. Additionally, there’s a Bright Silver Edition that echoes the design of the Xiaomi Mi 6.
