Xiaomi is set to be the first brand to release smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip this year. Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October, and Xiaomi plans to launch the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro with this new chip within the same month. Currently, there are several leaks about the Xiaomi 15 series, providing bits and pieces of information. The latest leak from the reputable tipster Digital Chat Station reveals details about the camera island design and color options for the 15 series.
Xiaomi 15 Series Design Leak (Rumored)
The tipster indicates that the entire Xiaomi 15 series will feature a new design, removing the decorative studs on the camera module. The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro previously had a square-shaped camera module in the upper-left corner with a metal bezel featuring a Parisian hobnail texture, characterized by small, raised dots. The new leak suggests that while the Xiaomi 15 series will retain the square camera module in the upper-left corner, it will likely forgo the decorative studs.
The leak also mentions that the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro will be available in standard colors like black, white, green, and bright silver, along with some special editions. Additionally, the series will be relatively thin and lightweight.
Previous Reports and Specifications
According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi 15 will continue to be a compact flagship phone with a flat display, whereas the 15 Pro will be a larger device featuring a quad-curved screen. Both models will have Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass protection for the screen and are expected to offer IP69-rated dust and water resistance.
The standard model might come with a 4,800mAh or 4,900mAh battery, along with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. In contrast, the Pro model could house a 5,400mAh battery with 120W fast charging and 80W wireless charging. A recent report also claimed that the 15 Pro’s OmniVision OV50K 50-megapixel primary camera would support a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/2.5. Besides a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, it may feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
