Jia Jingdong, the Vice President of the Vivo Brand in China, has shared crucial details about the Vivo S19 and S19 Pro on his Weibo account. These models had earlier appeared on Geekbench, and their designs were leaked via posters.
The Vivo S19 series will feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for the S19 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ for the S19 Pro. The S19 will come with a substantial 6000mAh battery, while the S19 Pro will have a slightly smaller 5500mAh battery, both supporting 80W charging. The S19 Pro will include a 6.78″ 2800 x 1260 OLED display, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage.
Camera Specifications
Jia Jingdong confirmed previous leaks by stating that the S19 Pro will be equipped with the industry's first 50-megapixel Sony IMX921 sensor. Additionally, it will feature another 50MP Sony sensor for telephoto, which supports 50× digital zoom, and an "anti-distortion wide-angle double soft light selfie" feature. Both the S19 and S19 Pro will sport 50MP front and 8MP ultrawide cameras.
Focus on Image Processing
The Vivo S19 series includes a "soft light ring" in the camera module designed to "evenly fill in the light" on subjects, reducing excessive shadows on faces or other objects. When using the main camera, this ring will scatter light over a wide area, and for telephoto shots, it will narrow the beam to cover distant objects. This mechanism aims to deliver ideal light distribution, texture, and color temperature across various scenes.
Enhanced Portraits and Autofocus
Jia Jingdong highlighted that the "soft light ring" is a signature feature of the Vivo S series and suggested that its portrait capabilities could surpass those of international competitors. Besides using lines to separate subjects from backgrounds, shadows are deliberately used to add contrast.
The series also introduces "synchronized focus change," enhancing autofocus reliability. Vivo's self-developed portrait algorithms have been updated, incorporating a preference for beauty into the imaging AI through supervised machine learning.
The Vivo S19 series continues to innovate in image processing and aims to deliver superior portrait photography.
