Vivo has unveiled the S19 series smartphones in China today, consisting of standard and pro models. These new devices are the successors to the Vivo S18 and S18 Pro, which were launched last December. The latest models feature a fresh design and minor improvements. There are some distinctions between the S19 and S19 Pro. Let’s explore what these phones bring to the table.

Vivo S19 Series Specifications

Starting with the display, both the Vivo S19 and S19 Pro sport a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Both models include a fingerprint scanner. The S19 has a flat display, while the S19 Pro features curved edges. Design-wise, both models have a pill-shaped island on the back, which contains a circular module at the top and an oblong-shaped module below. The S19 Pro also boasts IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.

Camera and Optics

In terms of cameras, the Vivo S19 is equipped with dual rear cameras, including a 50MP OIS-enabled main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The S19 Pro, on the other hand, has a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP Sony IMX921 with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP OIS-enabled telephoto unit with 50x digital zoom. Both models feature a ring LED flash and a 50MP front-facing selfie camera. These devices can also capture portraits at up to three focal lengths, with the Pro variant offering an 85mm capability.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Vivo S19 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the same chipset as its predecessor. The S19 Pro also features the same chipset as the S18 Pro, which is the Dimensity 9200+. Both models offer up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The S19 series comes with upgraded battery units: the standard model has a 6,000mAh battery, while the Pro model is backed by a 5,500mAh cell. Both support 80W wired charging and run on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo S19 starts at CNY 2,499 ($344) for the base 8GB + 256GB variant, while the 12GB + 256GB option costs CNY 2,699 ($372). The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB configurations are priced at CNY 2,999 ($413) and CNY 3,299 ($455) respectively.

The S19 Pro is available in the same configurations as the Vivo S19, with prices set at CNY 3,299 ($455), CNY 3,499 ($482), CNY 3,799 ($523), and CNY 3,999 ($551). The S19 series is offered in Blue, Gray, Peach (standard), and Green (Pro) color options.
