“Our research indicates that there exists a group of potentially harmful asteroids that current telescopes cannot spot. These objects circle the sun but do not belong to the asteroid belt, which is located between Mars and Jupiter. Instead, they are significantly closer, in resonance with Venus. Their elusive nature makes them difficult to detect, even though they might pose a real collision threat to our planet in the far future.”
Although the risk is not immediate, it should not be dismissed, as true giants are lurking near Venus, according to Carruba:
“Asteroids measuring around 300 meters across, capable of creating craters between 3 to 4.5 kilometers wide and unleashing energy comparable to hundreds of megatons, could be concealed in this group. A strike in a densely populated region would lead to massive destruction.”
