Lamentations is an exciting new game that combines the eerie atmosphere of The Backrooms with tactical first-person shooter (FPS) mechanics. You can choose to play alone or team up with others, making sure to carefully select your gear as you navigate through the enigmatic building.
Gameplay Mechanics
The core gameplay loop involves finishing each level to earn currency, which you can then use to enhance your gear, unlock fresh weapons, improve your skills, purchase ammo, and more. Whether you prefer solo play or co-op mode, the game offers an engaging experience. Players can also expect interactive puzzles, distinct bosses, various character builds, and the ability to tailor difficulty for each session.
PvPvE Mode
There’s a unique PvPvE mode named Wager, in which you compete against fellow survivors. Each player has only one life and can select just one load-out. Players contribute money into a pot, which is awarded to the last remaining players at the end of the match. Additionally, fans can look forward to a variety of weapon skins to collect.
Storyline
The narrative is intentionally vague, fitting the classic creepypasta style – your team is dispatched to an enigmatic facility in Alaska, which has been linked to numerous reports of vanished civilians and researchers in “The Backrooms.” You and your team must venture into the building to search for the missing individuals. The exploration takes place in a mysterious elevator that transports you between floors. It’s a straightforward yet effective design.
The game is set to launch on Steam on 22nd February, which is just around the corner.
