Tecno has announced that its upcoming Pop 9 will move away from the geometric design of the Pop 8 in favor of a raised camera bump, drawing inspiration from the latest Phone 16 and 16 Plus models.
Camera Specifications
While the new device likely won't support Apple's Spatial Video, despite promotional hints, it appears to come with only one rear camera housed in the new design. Tecno claims that users can expect "Stunning Clarity" from its single Sony IMX582 sensor, which is complemented by a ring flash positioned to one side. The company suggests that this will be the best, or at least the latest, rear camera available on a smartphone priced at INR 9,499 (approximately $115) or lower.
Performance and Competition
The Pop 9 will also feature 5G capabilities, powered by the new Dimensity 6300 SoC, which is a first for the series. However, it's worth mentioning that the Redmi 13C 5G is currently on sale on Amazon.in for INR 9,199 and boasts a main camera with a resolution of 50MP, compared to the Pop 9's 48MP IMX582 sensor. Additionally, the Redmi 13C comes with a 5,000mAh battery, which is a specification that may soon disappear from higher-end smartphones.
Features and Release Date
On the other hand, Tecno's device is also marketed as having an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, along with a flat display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, surpassing the 90Hz refresh rate of the 13C. The Pop 9 5G is set to be available for purchase on Amazon starting September 24, 2024.
