Asus Reveals New Prices for Latest 14-inch and 16-inch OLED Laptops

    Key Takeaway

    1. Asus launched new Zenbook A14 and Zenbook A16 laptops in the US, with some models already available in Europe.
    2. Prices for the new Zenbook models increased significantly in the US, with the Zenbook 14 now costing 35% more than previous pricing.
    3. Price adjustments resulted in the Zenbook S16 becoming $100 cheaper than the Zenbook 14, despite initial pricing inconsistencies.
    4. Asus did not raise prices in Europe, where the laptops are sold at Euro and Pound sterling prices, but did not disclose reasons for US price hikes.

Recent Asus Laptop Launches in the US

Just a few days ago, Asus unveiled a big lineup of new laptops in the united states. Some models were already present over in europe, but the Zenbook A14 and Zenbook A16 were brand new on the scene. For those interested, here’s a quick list of the fresh releases with their detailed articles.

Pricing Started Out Reasonable, Now It’s Not

The initial pricing for these laptops was quite tempting, starting at just $999 or $1,149 for the models with Snapdragon X2 processors. But as we observed, the pricing of the Zenbook S14 and S16 was pretty odd, with weaker specs coming in at higher costs than more robust versions. Also, the prices didn’t stay static, instead they jumped, and now they’ve increased across the board for all these beautiful devices.

    Price Hikes and Regional Differences

Right now, the Asus Zenbook 14 in the US costs about 35% more than it did yesterday, which is pretty big jump. Interestingly enough, in europe, Asus decided not to change the prices: it still retails for €1,299 and £1,249 with VAT included. On the other hand, the Zenbook A14 had a starting price of $1,349, and the larger Zenbook A16’s prices climbed up to $1,699 after a hundred dollar hike.

Impacts on the Cost and Market Position

This means the Zenbook A14 now costs way more than its earlier version, which used to be around $769 on Amazon. Meanwhile, the price increases have led to an unusual situation where the Zenbook S16 is actually $100 cheaper than the smaller Zenbook 14. Asus has yet to explain why all these price changes took place, leaving many to wonder about their pricing strategy.

    Key Takeaway

    1. The Zenbook S16 now features an 83 Wh larger battery and a 120 Hz AMOLED display, weighing around 1.5 kg.
    2. It offers different AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 and Ryzen AI 9 465 variants, with the older Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 outperforming these in CPU and GPU benchmarks.
    3. Both North American SKUs include 32 GB RAM and 1 TB storage, with a more powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 variant expected later.
    4. The Ryzen AI 9 465 model is priced at $1,899, while the Ryzen AI 7 445 kit is surprisingly priced higher at $1,999.

New Zenbook S16 Now Out in North America

The latest Zenbook S16 is finally hitting stores in North America after it was first shown at CES 2026 around three months ago. Even though it has been around since late January in some places, this new version got a few upgrades and differences from last year’s model.

    Battery and Hardware Changes

One major change is the battery. This year, Asus has increased the size to 83 Wh, which is about 6% more than before. Also, the laptops now come with either Ryzen AI 7 445 or Ryzen AI 9 465 from AMD’s Gorgon Point series. In comparison, reviews show that the older Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 gives better CPU and GPU performance than these newer chips. There isn’t a big difference between Ryzen AI 9 465 and Ryzen AI 9 365 either, which prices around $1,145 on Amazon currently.

    Display and Memory Specs

The flagship feature is a 120 Hz AMOLED display that provides beautiful visuals. Even though it’s light at about 1.5 kg, it packs a punch with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage across the North American versions. There are plans for a Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 model, but Asus hasn’t yet confirmed when it’ll actually be available in the market. Though it’s listed on Asus’ US website, there’s no official date yet for that model’s release.

    Pricing and Future Variants

The Ryzen AI 9 465 model is the more affordable choice at $1,899, after briefly dropping from $1,999. Interestingly, Asus has priced the weaker Ryzen AI 7 445 at $1,999. Asus Limits Availability of Core Ultra X Zenbook S14 and S16 Models

    Key Takeaways

    1. Powerful Processors: The Zenbook S14 features Intel’s latest Panther Lake processors, while the Zenbook S16 introduces AMD’s Ryzen AI 400 Gorgon Point APUs.

    2. Shared Specifications: Both models include 32 GB LPDDR5x RAM, 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and a 3K 120 Hz OLED display with a peak HDR brightness of 1,100 nits.

    3. Varied Regional Options: Processor options differ by region, with the US models offering more premium choices compared to Canadian and European editions.

    4. Connectivity Features: Zenbook S14 has Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the Zenbook S16 replaces these with USB4 ports, though the top-tier S16 variant still includes Thunderbolt 4.

    5. Launch and Availability: Both laptops are set to launch in February 2026, with pricing details yet to be announced.

After making its debut at IFA 2024 with Intel’s Lunar Lake and at Computex 2024 with AMD’s Strix Point, Asus has revealed updated versions of the Zenbook S14 and Zenbook S16 laptops during CES 2026.

    Zenbook S14 Specifications

The new Zenbook S14 (UX5406) features the latest Intel Panther Lake processors. However, the premium Core Ultra X Series 3 chips appear to be limited to select regions like the US. According to Asus’s announcements, the US edition of the Zenbook S14 comes with options for the Core Ultra X7 and Core Ultra X9, while the Canadian versions only offer the Core Ultra 9 386H and Core Ultra 7 355. Meanwhile, European models are also set to include the Core Ultra X Series 3 CPUs, which have integrated Arc B390 graphics.

    Common Features Across Models

Despite the differences in processors, many specifications are shared among all versions. The Zenbook S14 is constructed from an all-aluminum material that Asus labels as Ceraluminum. It includes 32 GB LPDDR5x RAM, a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and a 14-inch 3K 120 Hz OLED display with a peak HDR brightness of 1,100 nits. Additionally, it has a Full HD webcam that supports Windows Hello.

The port selection features 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 2x Thunderbolt 4, an HDMI 2.1-out port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Networking is managed by a Wi-Fi 7 WLAN card along with Bluetooth 5.4. Furthermore, all models come equipped with a 4-cell 77 Whr battery. The Core Ultra X variants are bundled with a 100 W power adapter, while the other models utilize a 68 W mini AC charger.

    Zenbook S16 Features and Availability

On the other hand, the Zenbook S16 (UM5606) introduces the new AMD Ryzen AI 400 Gorgon Point APUs. In the US market, configurations include the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, Ryzen AI 9 465, and a peculiar Ryzen AI 5 445 (which is likely a mistake) that isn’t currently listed in AMD’s lineup. For Canadian customers, Asus is providing the Zenbook S16 with Ryzen AI 7 445 and Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 options.

All Zenbook S16 models feature a 16-inch 3K 120 Hz OLED display with similar specs to the 14-inch version. Most other features are consistent throughout the lineup, but since this is an AMD setup, USB4 ports replace the Thunderbolt 4 options. Interestingly, Asus does mention Thunderbolt 4 for the top-tier variant that uses the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470.

Both the Zenbook S14 and S16 are set to launch in February 2026, available for purchase at Asus.com and other authorized retailers. Pricing details have yet to be disclosed.
