  • Viture and 8BitDo Release Translucent Ultimate 2C Controller

Viture and 8BitDo Release Translucent Ultimate 2C Controller

    Key Takeaways

    1. Viture and 8BitDo have launched new translucent special edition controllers, expanding the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C lineup.
    2. The Ultimate 2C Bluetooth controller now includes a Smoky Translucent option but is only compatible with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, not SteamOS.
    3. The Ultimate 2C Wireless controller introduces a Clear Translucent version, bringing the total color options to eight.
    4. Each controller is priced at $39, with a promotion offering a free controller when purchasing a Viture glasses pack.
    5. The new controllers are available on Amazon, but they are not yet for sale.

Earlier this year, Viture and 8BitDo team up to introduce the first mobile controller that works with XR glasses. This controller, priced at $79, is built on the 8BitDo’s Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller design. Now, these two brands have come together again to launch two new controllers, which are special editions of the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C.

    New Translucent Controllers

The latest controllers are see-through versions of the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth and the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless, currently sold on Amazon for $25.49. The Ultimate 2C Bluetooth was first offered in Blue, Pink, and Dark Blue, but now it adds a Smoky Translucent option to its lineup.

Viture claims the color resembles that of the limited-edition Steam Deck OLED, yet it’s important to note that the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth controller doesn’t work with SteamOS. It is compatible only with the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Be sure to check the compatibility list for other 8BitDo controllers with the Steam Deck and SteamOS.

    Features of Each Controller

On the flip side, the Ultimate 2C Wireless made its debut in Mint, Peach, Green, and Purple. In December 2024, 8BitDo released two special-edition colors: Blueberry and Brownie, plus a Black Myth: Wukong special edition. With the addition of the new Clear Translucent version, users now have eight color choices available.

Differing from the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth, the Ultimate 2C Wireless provides a 2.4GHz adapter, making it compatible with the Viture Neckband (Bluetooth) and with devices like Windows (Wired and 2.4GHz) and Android (Bluetooth only).

    Pricing and Availability

Each version of the Viture × 8BitDo Ultimate 2C controller can be purchased directly from Viture for $39. However, there’s a special offer where if you buy a Viture glasses pack and add one of the controllers to your cart, you can get the controller for free. Listings for the new controllers are also available on Amazon, but as of now, they are not available for purchase.

Viture Unveils Stunning New 8BitDo Mobile Gaming Accessory

    Key Takeaways

    1. Viture and 8BitDo are collaborating on a unique mobile gaming accessory, set to launch in March.
    2. Full details about the device will be shared soon, and beta testers are being sought.
    3. The new device is a variation of 8BitDo’s Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller.
    4. The design includes a partially see-through style with orange highlights.
    5. The customized version is expected to retain the same hardware features as the original controller.

Viture has brought forth interesting news about its upcoming project with 8BitDo. To summarize, the two companies hinted at developing a unique mobile gaming accessory. Although they haven’t disclosed specific details yet, they mentioned that we can expect the official launch in March.

    Excitement Builds

With only a little time left in the month, there’s no indication of the much-anticipated device. Instead, Viture has announced that they will share ‘full details’ shortly. Additionally, the company stated in the same tweet that they will be looking for beta testers at the same time. This makes it seem unlikely that the collaboration between 8BitDo and Viture will hit the market anytime soon.

    Device Specifications

However, Viture has effectively let the cat out of the bag regarding the device—it is a variation of the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller that 8BitDo launched in October (currently priced at $49.99 on Amazon). From the brief video shown below, it appears that Viture’s model features a partially see-through design with orange highlights similar to the Viture X 8BitDo Ultimate C. It can be assumed that this customized version will keep the same basic hardware as 8BitDo’s original, which includes Hall effect joysticks, a 350 mAh battery, and compatibility with smartphones that can be up to 170 mm tall.
