Vivo X300 Ultra to Outperform Galaxy S26 Ultra in Key Features

    Key Takeaways

    1. Vivo is promoting the X300 Ultra with a focus on innovative teleconverter attachments, including a notable 400 mm teleconverter.
    2. The X300 Ultra will feature Sony’s new 200 MP LYT-901 sensor, which has not been used in any smartphone before.
    3. The sensor in the X300 Ultra is larger (1/1.12-inch) than that in competitors like the Galaxy S26 Ultra (1/1.3-inch).
    4. The camera will include a 35 mm lens with a 30% reduction in reflectivity, enhancing light sensitivity by over 30% compared to the X200 Ultra.
    5. The device will support CIPA 6.5 image stabilization and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ISP, but the release date is still unknown.

Vivo is ramping up its promotional efforts for the X300 Ultra following its recent reveal at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The focus of the company’s announcements has been primarily on the innovative teleconverter attachments for the device. Among these, a notable 400 mm teleconverter stands out. However, a Vivo executive has shifted attention towards the advancements in internal camera technology that will be introduced with the X300 Ultra.

    Exciting Camera Innovations

The executive has confirmed that the X300 Ultra will be equipped with Sony’s LYT-901 sensor. This sensor, boasting 200 MP, has yet to see use in any smartphone. While the Xiaomi 17 Ultra employs a 200 MP sensor for its telephoto capabilities, the X300 Ultra will be taking a cue from the Galaxy S26 Ultra by utilizing this impressive resolution for its main camera.

    Larger Sensor Than Competitors

What sets the X300 Ultra apart is its notably larger sensor compared to Samsung’s latest flagship, which currently retails for $1,299 on Amazon. The LYT-901 features a 1/1.12-inch optical format, surpassing the 1/1.3-inch sensor found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Additionally, the Vivo X300 Ultra will pair this sensor with a 35 mm lens that has approximately 30% reduced reflectivity, thanks to a new ultra-low reflection coating.

According to Han Bo Xiao, this upgrade will enhance the X300 Ultra’s light sensitivity by over 30% compared to its predecessor, the X200 Ultra. In a post on Weibo, the executive mentioned that this new model also supports the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) CIPA 6.5 image stabilization. All these features will be powered by the image signal processor (ISP) found in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. However, the exact release date for the X300 Ultra remains uncertain at this time.

    5. Performance claims should be approached with caution, as they are provided by Lenovo.

Lenovo has officially announced the Legion Tab Gen 5 for the worldwide market at MWC 2026, with sales starting in April. This gaming tablet is also expected to be released in China very soon under the name Y700 Gen 5. Before its launch in China, the company has provided insights into the performance of games on this new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device.

    Gaming Performance Benchmarks

The company has revealed two benchmarks related to gaming performance. One benchmark involved a “popular 3D turn-based mobile game,” which was tested continuously for 4 hours. Lenovo emphasizes that this game was evaluated at the “Very High” graphics setting, achieving an average of 60 FPS over the four-hour period.

    Second Game Testing Results

For the second benchmark, it focused on a “famous battle royale” game, which also underwent a 4-hour continuous test. According to Lenovo, the Legion Tab Gen 5 was able to achieve an average of 164 FPS in this scenario, with the visual settings set to “Very High.”

    Temperature Control Observations

Another interesting detail from these benchmarks is that Lenovo reports the grip area of the gaming tablet reached approximately 40° C during the first game, while it maintained a lower temperature of around 38.5° C in the second game.

It’s important to mention that, unlike the latest tablets from RedMagic, the Legion Tab Gen 5 does not come with an active cooling fan (Black Shark 4 Pro mobile cooler curr. $32.24 on Amazon). Therefore, it’s encouraging to see the tablet maintaining a relatively stable temperature throughout the 4-hour gaming sessions. However, it’s crucial to remember that these performance numbers are provided by the company itself and should be approached with caution. • Smartphones Throttle to 70% Performance: No Impact in Tests

Smartphones Throttle to 70% Performance: No Impact in Tests

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Realme GT 8 Pro features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, delivering impressive CPU performance compared to rivals like the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

    2. During stress tests, the GT 8 Pro experienced significant throttling, with performance drops of up to 70% under high heat situations.

    3. Despite some thermal throttling, the device maintained consistent CPU performance, scoring about 10% higher in Geekbench tests when cooled.

    4. In gaming scenarios, the GT 8 Pro achieved high frame rates (59.2 fps in Genshin Impact) but experienced some drops when overheated, though these were not majorly impactful for regular use.

    5. Overall, the Realme GT 8 Pro effectively handles demanding tasks and remains a strong choice for everyday use and gaming, despite some thermal limitations.

Inside the Realme GT 8 Pro, users will find the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Our assessments of the flagship model show that it boasts impressive CPU capabilities, placing it far ahead of several rivals like the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

    Performance Under Pressure

The question arises: how does this top-tier smartphone, equipped with a powerful SoC, manage the heat it generates during regular usage? During our evaluations, the GT 8 Pro showed noticeable throttling. In stress tests using 3DMark, we noted a performance drop of as much as 70%. Do these constraints become obvious while playing demanding games in real-world situations?

To explore this, we pushed the test unit to its limits using the Burnout benchmark until it overheated (which took about 10 to 15 minutes). Shortly after, we subjected the CPU to a Geekbench test and the GPU to a gaming benchmark.

    Consistent CPU Performance

Regarding CPU strength, there hasn’t been a significant difference when comparing our Geekbench results. When adequately cooled, the Realme device scored about 10% higher in both single-core and multi-core evaluations.

In daily tasks, this performance drop is hardly noticeable. After the GT 8 Pro powered down due to excessive heat, we didn’t see any major issues like stuttering or lag in the system interface.

Moreover, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at a working temperature, the Realme phone still outperforms a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL powered by its Tensor G5 in optimal conditions.

    Gaming Capabilities

Next, the Realme device needed to showcase its skills in a gaming scenario. For this test, we tried playing the demanding title Genshin Impact with the highest detail settings, targeting 60 frames per second.

In our stress test, the GT 8 Pro achieved an impressive 59.2 fps, while the high-end device previously managed nearly the same at 59.4 fps when it was cool. Although frame rate drops were a bit more noticeable when the phone was heated—sometimes falling to 48 fps, while drops to 51 fps were noted without any load—this is unlikely to create a major impact during regular usage.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, the Realme GT 8 Pro demonstrates that it can handle demanding tasks effectively, even under stress. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor provides robust performance, though some thermal throttling is evident. Nonetheless, for everyday use and gaming, it still stands out as an excellent choice.
