Honor Watch 6 Plus with long battery life and Heart Guard Plus

    Key Takeaway

    – It features a round display with a printed bezel, metal body, and a right-side digital crown; design reminiscent of the Huawei Watch GT 6.
    – A 1,000 mAh battery promises up to 35 days of use on a single charge, significantly larger than many rivals.
    – Offers 120 sports modes, including professional tracking options.
    – Includes Heart Guard Plus to assess risk of high blood pressure and heart attacks, though not a medical substitute.
    – Reservations are open in China, with launch likely in the next few days; pricing and global availability not confirmed.

The Honor Watch 6 Plus was first seen in teaser images back in April. In the meantime, Honor has published numerous other images on the Chinese social network Weibo which show the smartwatch in silver, black and silver with blue color accents. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the Huawei Watch GT 6, as Honor also features a round display with a printed bezel, a metal body and a digital crown on the right-hand side.

    Design and visuals

The most unique feature of the Honor Watch 6 Plus is the battery, which has a capacity of 1,000 mAh, making it significantly larger than most of its competitors. For comparison: the Apple Watch Ultra 3 costs $779 and has a 599 mAh battery, the larger 44 millimeter version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 uses a 445 mAh battery, and even the new Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra makes do with a 780 mAh battery.

    Battery life and features

According to Honor, this giant battery enables the smartwatch to be used for 35 days before it has to be recharged. Apart from the battery, Honor advertises two features in particular. Firstly, a total of 120 sports modes, including “professional” tracking options. And secondly, a feature called “Heart Guard Plus”, which is designed to determine the risk of high blood pressure and heart attacks, although, as usual, such functions cannot replace medical examinations. Honor has not yet confirmed when or at what price the Honor Watch 6 Plus will be launched on the market. However, now that reservations have been opened in China, the launch is likely to take place in the next few days.

Future Smartwatches and Rings: Powered by Body Heat Technology

    Key Takeaways

    1. Peking University scientists have developed the world’s first “thermoelectric rubber,” which is flexible and generates electricity effectively.
    2. This new material can harness temperature differences between the body and ambient air for power, enabling self-sustaining wearable gadgets.
    3. The innovative design combines semiconducting polymers with elastic rubber, enhancing electrical conductivity while reducing thermal conductivity.
    4. The material can stretch to 150% and return to 90% of its original form, with the ability to expand over 850% its initial size.
    5. Potential applications include wearable technology and healthcare devices, such as power for medical sensors.

Peking University scientists have developed a groundbreaking material they are calling the world’s first “thermoelectric rubber.” This innovative creation is both extremely flexible and capable of generating electricity effectively. As detailed in the journal Nature, this advancement could pave the way for a new generation of self-sustaining wearable gadgets that harness the temperature differences between a person’s body and the ambient air for power.

    New Approach to Power Generation

Previously, attempts to create materials that could utilize body heat to power electronic devices have led to results that were only somewhat flexible. The high-performing thermoelectric materials created were not as elastic as desired. However, this new research team has successfully achieved what many have been striving for — an effective thermoelectric material that retains its elasticity.

    Innovative Hybrid Design

Under the guidance of material scientist Lei Ting, the Peking University team tackled this challenge by creating a hybrid polymer. They mixed semiconducting polymers with elastic rubber, resulting in the development of semiconducting nanofibrils encased in an elastomer. This unexpected design enhances electrical conductivity while lowering thermal conductivity, turning the material into a highly efficient thermoelectric generator.

The team showcased that the material could return to 90% of its original form after being stretched to 150%. It can also expand to more than 850% of its initial size. The researchers plan to continue improving its characteristics even more.

    Potential Applications

The unique combination of flexibility and thermoelectric properties makes this material an excellent candidate for use in wearable technology. In addition to consumer electronics, there are potential healthcare applications, such as powering medical sensors.

    Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold7, Flip7, Flip7 FE, and Watch 8

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Galaxy Unpacked event is confirmed for July 9, 2025, showcasing Samsung’s new foldable devices.
    2. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature breakthrough hardware with a thinner design, aiming to compete against brands like Honor, Vivo, and Google.
    3. Samsung’s Galaxy AI will enhance user interaction by acting as a smart assistant for managing tasks.
    4. New products include the Galaxy Z Flip7, a budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, and various Galaxy Watch 8 models.
    5. A potential tri-foldable device from Samsung may be teased during the event, which will take place in Brooklyn and be streamed live.

Evan Blass had already heard the news, but now it’s official: July 9, 2025, is the confirmed date. On the evening of June 24, 2025, Samsung disclosed detailed information about its Galaxy Unpacked event after sharing several teaser trailers for the “ultra-foldable” device. This new launch will definitely face tough competition in 2025 from brands like Honor, Vivo, and Google.

    Exciting Innovations Ahead

For the first time in years, the Galaxy Z Fold7 from Samsung is poised to create excitement as it seems to be narrowing the gap in thickness compared to other foldable devices from China and the US. Samsung has referred to this as “breakthrough hardware” in their press release, while also reiterating the importance of AI technology. The Galaxy AI is designed to transform the user interface and revolutionize how we engage with our devices. Instead of merely having a selection of apps, the phone aims to act as a smart assistant that comprehends our needs and handles tasks on our behalf.

    New Devices on the Horizon

Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung is also anticipated to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip7 and, for the first time, a more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Additionally, the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) are included in the lineup for this launch. There are also hints that Samsung’s first tri-foldable device might be teased, which is expected to debut in the fall. As predicted, the event will happen in New York City, specifically in Brooklyn. It will be streamed live worldwide and is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. EST on July 9.
