    MSI CES 2025 Gaming Monitors: 4K QD-OLED & 600Hz Revealed

At CES 2025, MSI is set to unveil an exciting new line of gaming monitors that promise top-notch performance and features ready for the future. Before the tech event, the company has shared important information about these monitors that integrate advanced AI technologies and groundbreaking innovations. Let’s dive deeper into MSI’s latest products.

    MPG 272URX QD-OLED: A Groundbreaking 4K 240Hz Monitor

The MPG 272URX QD-OLED stands out as the first-ever 27-inch 4K 240Hz monitor in the world, equipped with DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR20). Its unique 5-layer tandem OLED panel, utilizing EL Gen 3 technology, enhances efficiency by as much as 30%. With a high pixel density of 166 PPI, this monitor guarantees crisp text and minimizes color fringing.

    Enhanced Gaming Experience

  • MSI MPG 322URX: New OLED Gaming Monitor with Hidden Upgrades

MSI MPG 322URX: New OLED Gaming Monitor with Hidden Upgrades

The upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is set to take place from January 7 to January 10 in Las Vegas. With this event approaching, companies such as Asus have started to hint at new products before CES 2025. MSI, for its part, has disclosed all the details about the MPG 322URX QD-OLED, which was introduced earlier this month in China.

    Global Launch and Comparisons

Interestingly, the MPG 322URX has made its global debut about a week after the MPG 321URXW was launched. The MPG 321URXW is simply a white variant of the MPG 321URX, which is currently priced at $924.99 on Amazon. One notable aspect of the MPG 322URX is that it might be more suited for high-end gamers in the future compared to the MPG 321URX. However, both models share the same Gen 3 QD-OLED panel sourced from Samsung Display. Because of this, the MPG 322URX has several display features, including:

    Design and Connectivity Features

In addition, the MPG 322URX maintains the same overall look as the MPG 321URX, along with a similar ergonomic stand. Upon closer inspection, there are three key differences between the two models that might be overlooked at first. For example, the MPG 322URX’s USB Type-C port is capable of charging connected devices at 98 W, providing an 8 W increase compared to the MPG 321URX.

Furthermore, MSI has upgraded the USB 2.0 Type-A and Type-B ports to quicker USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) versions. The most significant update is the addition of a DisplayPort 2.1a port that complies with the Ultra-High Bit Rate 20 (UHBR20) standard. This allows the MPG 322URX to output 4K at 240 Hz via DisplayPort without relying on Display Stream Compression (DSC), thanks to an impressive 80 Gbit/s peak bandwidth.

    Latency and Market Availability

In theory, DSC can introduce some delays and reduce quality, even though VESA claims it is ‘visually lossless.’ It’s worth noting that VESA acknowledges that around 25% of people could distinguish a DSC image from a native one during tests. This means your viewing experience might differ from someone else’s in this respect.

Nonetheless, there are currently no consumer graphics cards that can take advantage of UHBR20. In essence, the main appeal of the MPG 322URX over the MPG 321URX is currently moot. It’s not surprising that MSI markets the MPG 322URX as ‘built to support future hardware.’ While the company hasn’t disclosed the price of the MPG 322URX yet, we anticipate it will be featured in MSI’s CES 2025 presentations next month in Las Vegas.

  • MSI MPG 321URX: New White OLED Gaming Monitor Launched

MSI MPG 321URX: New White OLED Gaming Monitor Launched

MSI has introduced a new gaming monitor to the world, highlighting its ‘stunning silver-white design’. In the accompanying press release, the company elaborates on the monitor in an interesting way:

    Designed for Gamers

This 32-inch display is perfect for gamers who appreciate both top-notch performance and stylish aesthetics. It blends power with elegance, making it a great match for high-end white custom PCs or the PS5. This monitor sets a new standard for luxury gaming setups, and it’s truly a work of art that showcases advanced technology alongside beautiful design.

    Previous Launch

Although MSI doesn’t mention it in their press release, the MPG 321URXW actually made its first appearance last month in China. It’s essentially an update to the MPG 321URX (currently priced at $924.99 on Amazon) that has been available throughout this year. Thus, the MPG 321URXW features a 31.5-inch QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display, which offers a 4K resolution paired with a 240 Hz refresh rate.

    Technical Specs

However, achieving both 4K and 240 Hz requires the use of Display Stream Compression (DSC), unlike the MPG 322URX that MSI displayed in China earlier this month. Currently, no consumer graphics card supports DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, meaning that the MPG 322URX also needs DSC for 4K/240 Hz content, similar to the MPG 321URXW.

Additionally, the MPG 321URXW provides impressive specs like 0.03 ms GtG response times, 250 nits SDR, and peak brightness of 1,000 nits HDR, along with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to minimize image tearing. In essence, the only distinguishing factor between the MPG 321URXW and the MPG 321URX is the white casing. Nevertheless, MSI has priced the MPG 321URXW at $1,099, which is $150 more than the MSRP of the MPG 321URX.

MSI Claw 8 AI+ Launches at $100 Over Asus ROG Ally X Price

Hardly any time has gone by since the Claw 8 AI+ was recognized on CES’ website as a CES 2025 Innovation Award Honoree. It seemed like MSI was gearing up to launch their new gaming handheld early in 2025. But two retailers have hinted that this might not be true.

    Pricing and Availability

Amazon US and Excaliber PC have both listed the 8-inch gaming handheld at a price of $899, with a full launch expected next month. Even though the Claw 8 AI+ is currently out of stock on Amazon, you can still pre-order it at Excaliber PC, which includes the following specifications:

    Specifications Details

As reported by VideoCardz, there will be a Core Ultra 7 256V model featuring 16 GB of RAM. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation about this yet. Nevertheless, all versions of the Claw 8 AI+ will measure 299 x 123 x 24 mm and have a weight of 794 g. • MSI Claw 8 AI+ Launches with Bigger Battery than Asus ROG Ally

MSI Claw 8 AI+ Launches with Bigger Battery than Asus ROG Ally

A few months have gone by since MSI last talked about the possibility of releasing its second gaming handheld. For some background, the company introduced the Claw 8 AI+ featuring Intel Lunar Lake processors during Computex 2024 in June. Later, in September at IFA 2024, MSI presented the same device and made the following announcement:

    More Details at IFA 2024

During IFA 2024, MSI will share more information about the Claw 8 AI+. This fresh gaming handheld running Windows 11 will be a new addition to the Claw series, expected to arrive in early 2025. The Claw 8 AI+ is powered by the new Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor, promising a notable boost in AI capabilities.

    Confirmation Still Pending

However, MSI has yet to specify an exact launch date. Additionally, most of the technical details remain uncertain. Recently, CES has shed some light on not just the potential timing for the Claw 8 AI+’s full unveiling, but also its enhanced battery specs.

The Claw 8 AI+ has been recognized as a CES 2025 Innovation Award Honoree. Thus, it looks like a January 2025 launch could be possible, though this might not directly correlate with its official release date. Furthermore, CES has disclosed that the Claw 8 AI+ will feature an 8-inch screen paired with an 82 Wh battery, which is 2 Wh more than the battery found in the ROG Ally X.

    Battery Comparisons

In contrast, the current MSI Claw includes a 53 Wh battery (priced at $471.18 on Amazon). This new 82 Wh battery is expected to enable the Claw 8 AI+ to deliver more than 4 hours of gameplay on triple-A games. Still, it might be wise to hold off on making any conclusions until independent reviews are available.

    Recent Developments in Monitor Design

Since that time, MSI has rolled out a number of other QD-OLED monitors, including the MPG 491CQPX released in August. However, this latest version seems to have merely spruced up the MPG 321URX without making any significant changes. In essence, the new MPG 321URXW keeps the main features of the original MPG 321URX intact.

    Performance Specs and Features

For instance, it offers a 4K resolution combined with a 240 Hz refresh rate, while achieving up to 0.03 ms GtG response times, though it only provides 250 nits of peak brightness.
