Samsung Galaxy M55 5G: Initial Impressions and Review

Samsung’s Galaxy M55 5G recently made an entrance into India alongside their Galaxy M15 phone, catering to those searching for 5G phones under Rs 13,000. Meanwhile, M55 5G competes against phones priced from Rs 25000-30000 and here I will offer my initial impressions of it.

    Design And Display

The Galaxy M55 5G boasts an elegant polycarbonate build measuring only 7.8mm thin and weighing 180 grams. Available as Denim Blue edition with color shift effect ranging from deep blue to almost black hue, its matte back panel adds an air of sophistication.

The device features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits to provide easy visibility even under harsh sunlight conditions. FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate also contribute to an enjoyable viewing experience, although stereo speakers would have made for more realistic sound reproduction – though dual speaker setup is included onboard for optimal audio experience.

    Performance And Software

Equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, Samsung promises that their Galaxy M55 5G offers performance comparable to that of Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. I tested one which featured 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage; four major OS updates as well as five years worth of security updates will be provided over five years for Android 14.0.1 with One UI 6.1 installed as standard on this smartphone.

The M55 does not come equipped with its own charger but does support 45W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery, offering seamless performance when browsing social media, streaming music or editing images. It provides a responsive experience whether browsing social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook or editing photos and editing your photo library.

Cameras And Other Features Available on Our Products

The Galaxy M55 5G boasts two 50-megapixel cameras on either end, including an OIS equipped 50MP + 8MP ultrawide + 2-MP macro setup on its rear that offers flexibility in daily photography use – OIS support, Nightography tools and AI driven tools are also included in its photography features. Other key components include an adjustable vibration motor intensity setting as well as in-screen fingerprint reader – unfortunately however there’s no 3.5 mm audio jack available!

The Galaxy M55 5G is currently available in India in three variants – 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB, each costing Rs 26,999.99 to Rs 32,999 with discounts available through bank cards or exchange offers for buyers. Competitors in its price range offer similar features and performance; buyers are therefore likely to save with one of these devices over another option available to them.

Starting at Rs 26,999, the Galaxy M55 5G stands out in the mid-range smartphone market as an attractive proposition. Though faced with stiff competition from rival devices, my initial impressions of it are positive.

Alongside this release, there are hints that iQOO will also launch a mid-range device equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, potentially falling under the iQOO Neo 10 series.

    iQOO Neo 10 Series

According to leaks from tipster DCS, the speculated iQOO Neo 10 or Neo 10 Pro will boast the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The device is rumored to sport a 144Hz 1.5K resolution display utilizing an 8T LTPO panel integrated with flicker reduction technology.

    Features and Pricing

Reportedly, the phone is expected to include a 50MP dual camera setup and support 120W fast charging. • Realme GT Neo 5 SE: AnTuTu’s Unmatched Mid-Range Performance Leader

Realme GT Neo 5 SE: AnTuTu’s Unmatched Mid-Range Performance Leader

    AnTuTu’s Top 10 Best-Performing Mid-Range Smartphones of November 2023

Intense competition is unfolding in the premium segment, with the Red Magic 9 Pro+ fueled by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and the Vivo X100, powered by Dimensity 9300, engaging in a close race for the AnTuTu performance crown. Meanwhile, noteworthy developments are occurring in the mid-range sector. Here are the top 10 best-performing mid-range smartphones of November.

    Realme GT Neo 5 SE (Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, 16GB+1TB): 1,166,334

    Redmi Note 12 Turbo (Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, 16GB+1TB): 1,156,926

    OPPO Reno 11 5G (Dimensity 8200, 12GB+512GB): 1,021,724

    iQOO Z8 (Dimensity 8200, 12GB+512GB): 966,513

    iQOO Neo 7SE (Dimensity 8200, 12GB+512GB): 955,091

    Vivo S17 Pro (Dimensity 8200, 12GB+512GB): 950,981

    Redmi Note 12T Pro (Dimensity 8200 Ultra, 12GB+512GB): 902,805

    Xiaomi Civi 3 (Dimensity 8200 Ultra, 12GB+512GB): 896,514

    Redmi K60E (Dimensity 8200, 12GB+512GB): 895,342

OnePlus Ace Racing Edition (Dimensity 8100 Max, 12GB+256GB): 892,232

The Realme GT Neo 5 SE has retained its status as the mid-range performance king for the second month. It is followed closely by the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Both of these devices use the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, which has been quite a rare sight on smartphones. Oppo’s recently launched Reno 11 5G has taken the third spot, with a score of 1,021,724 points.

    Mid-Range Powerhouses

The next three entries on the list, namely the iQOO Z8, the iQOO Neo 7SE, and the Vivo S17 Pro are all powered by the Dimensity 8200 chip. The remaining four smartphones are powered by Dimensity 8200 Ultra and the 8100 Max chips.

So by the looks of it, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip still appears to be dominating the mid-range segment in terms of performance. However, that might change soon as a new generation of devices equipped with the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Dimensity 8300 chips are beginning to arrive in the market. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3-clad Honor 100 and the Redmi K70E equipped with the Dimensity 8300-Ultra have already made their debut in the market. It would be interesting to see these new generation chips go head to head in the December 2023 edition of AnTuTu’s top 10 mid-range list.
