    The Dell Pro Precision 5 Series 16 is finally hitting shelves worldwide, weighing in at a hefty 2.16 kg which makes it chunkier then its sibling, the Pro Precision 5 Series 16S. Unlike the lighter version, this heavier model can be equiped with optional Nvidia graphics cards. For context, this machine carries about the same heft as the MacBook Pro 16 we reviewed earlier this year with an M5 Pro chip.

    Processor, Memory, and Graphics Options

    Customers can currently configure the Pro Precision 5 Series 16 with up to a Core Ultra 9 386H vPro processor and 64 GB of user-replaceable LPCAMM2 RAM running at 8,533 MT/s. Additionally, Dell offers Nvidia RTX Pro 500 Blackwell (6 GB), RTX Pro 1000 Blackwell (8 GB) and RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell (8 GB) as discrete GPU choices. Unfortunately, only 400-nit IPS displays are avaiable, either with FHD+ or QHD+ resolutions.

    Pricing and Regional Variations

    The starting price for the Pro Precision 5 Series 16 in the US is $2,722 with a Core Ultra 5 336H vPro, 16 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM and a 256 GB SSD. In contrast, the same laptop costs £2,247 in the UK and €2,549 in the Eurozone. Interestingly, these markets recieve the Core Ultra 7 366H as their starting processor option, showing a clear regional difference in base configurations.

    Battery, Storage, and Connectivity Features

    By default, this 16-inch workstation ships with a 64 Wh battery, but Dell also provides a 96 Wh battery and a dedicated Long Life Cycle variant for each capacity.     Three months have passed since Dell unleashed its Pro Precision 5 Series 14 laptop.

    During the waiting period, Dell has released the higher-end Pro Precision 7 Series 14 with an optional Tandem OLED display. Also, they started selling the Dell 14S as a replacement for the Dell 14 Plus we reviewed almost a year ago, which currently costs $959 on Amazon. The Pro Precision 5 Series 14 is now available globally too.

    Pricing and Availability

    Starting at $2,577 in the US, £2,578 in the UK and €2,927 in the Eurozone, the Pro Precision 5 Series 14 is much cheaper than its Pro Precision 7 Series counterpart. While the former misses out on the latter’s Tandem OLED display, it can still be configured with up to 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM running at 8,533 MT/s. Additionaly, Dell sells the laptop running Windows 11 Pro or Ubuntu Linux 24.04 LTS.

    Processor and Performance Options

    Currently, the Pro Precision 5 Series 14 defaults to the Core Ultra 7 366H vPro in multiple markets. However, Core Ultra 5 336H vPro and Core Ultra 9 386H vPro editions should be available, as should SKUs with 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage. All versions feature a 72 Wh battery for the time being, and only 400-nit and 60 Hz IPS displays can be configured.

    Display and Physical Specifications

    With that being said, Dell does sell FHD+ and QHD+ panels for this model. The Pro Precision 5 Series 14 is on the bulky side for a 14-inch laptop at 1.81 kg and 13.97~23.65 mm, though.     The ThinkPad T14 G7 and T16 G5 caught our attention during our visit to MWC 2026 in Barcelona last week. Although neither of these laptops is available for sale just yet, they have already been thoroughly evaluated by iFixit.

    To summarize, the T14 G7 and T16 G5 represent Lenovo’s first mainstream models to feature LPCAMM2 RAM. This type of memory was previously reserved for the very high-end ThinkPad T1g Gen 8 (currently priced at $3,199 on Amazon). Lenovo’s decision to allow user-upgradeable RAM coincides with a trend toward more modular designs in their latest ThinkPad T series laptops.

    Repairability Scores

    In terms of repairability, iFixit has given both the T14 G7 and T16 G5 a perfect score of 10/10. This is an improvement from the previous 9/10 for the T14 G6, bringing the new models in line with the Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 16. However, there are still some areas where Lenovo’s latest laptops fall short regarding repairability.

    Limitations Noted

    For example, some ports are still soldered onto the mainboards of the laptops. Additionally, iFixit pointed out that replacing Wi-Fi modules or display parts would likely require a complete new display assembly.     Work laptops usually seen as reliable but not very thrilling. At the Mobile World Congress 2026, Lenovo presented two innovative business laptops that aim to shift this perception, offering features that could attract a variety of users: the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 5. We had the opportunity to test both devices at the event.

    RAM Innovations

    Currently, RAM is a hot subject, and not for good reasons—particularly due to its high costs. Lenovo made a bold move with the new T series by introducing the LPCAMM2 memory standard. This new memory type replaces the conventional SO-DIMM RAM format, allowing for the use of more efficient LPDDR5X RAM that delivers much faster performance.

    Modular RAM Benefits

    Although LPCAMM2 is pricier right now, Lenovo’s choice makes sense: This RAM type is necessary to support the Intel Panther Lake X7 CPUs with upgradeable RAM, as these processors demand quick LP memory. Consequently, the T14 Gen 7 and T16 Gen 5 are unique as the only laptops available that combine fast ARC GPUs with 12 Xe3 units and user-replaceable RAM. The Panther Lake CPUs will operate at a 30 W TDP in the new T series, which is an increase from what older models in the T series could manage.

    Mainstream Adoption

    Previously, the only laptops using LPCAMM2 were part of the ThinkPad P1 / T1g (available on Amazon) series, which is a high-end workstation line. Thus, the T14 G7 and T16 G5 are the first mainstream laptops to feature this technology. For those who prefer the traditional SO-DIMM option, it’s still available: Purchasing Lenovo ThinkPad laptops with the AMD Ryzen AI 400 option provides users with two SO-DIMM slots instead.

    Lenovo could have opted to solder the LP RAM, but they chose the modular LPCAMM2 solution for better repairability. Overall, the ThinkPad T series is embracing modularity more than ever, as not just the RAM is modular. When the bottom cover is taken off, the battery can be easily removed by pressing two small release tabs, eliminating the need for tools.

    Improved Repairability

    Moreover, the essential USB-C charging ports are now modular and replaceable by users. Lenovo has even separated the fan from the heatsink, so users can clean the fan without needing to reapply thermal paste to the CPU. They’ve included some thoughtful details too: Once the last screw of the bottom cover (the center screw between the hinges) is removed, the cover pops off in the middle section automatically—no spudger required. It’s no wonder the T14 Gen 7 and T16 Gen 5 received a perfect 10/10 on the iFixit repairability score.

    Design Changes

    At first glance, the new T series seems similar to the previous models, but there are many subtle modifications: The screen lid is flat again, and the Lenovo logo has a fresh design. A more significant change is the wider bar-hinge design adopted by the T14 Gen 7 and T16 Gen 5, which allows for smaller screen bezels since the Wi-Fi antennas are now integrated into the hinge rather than being placed at the top of the screen. Additionally, new hinges make it possible to open the laptop with one hand.

    Color and Material Updates

    Lenovo is also taking a new approach with colors and materials. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 features a new aluminum metal display lid, which felt solid during our hands-on experience, while the ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 is also available in a dark blue option. This new hue is more understated compared to the previous grey option. Lenovo claims this color was chosen as it was the most favored by users, just edging out a dark red option. While the dark blue looked appealing, the material seemed prone to smudging, an ongoing issue with ThinkPads.

    Keyboard Modifications

    Changes to the ThinkPad keyboard haven’t been well received by long-time users, and Lenovo has made another alteration. The typing feel and key travel remain unchanged, but the keyboard’s design has been updated, featuring centered printing and a new font. This is the only modification we found questionable, as the previous font was perfectly fine. The new font even appears slightly less usable, with smaller lettering and thinner lines that are less readable. Unfortunately, this change seems to be affecting the entire ThinkPad lineup.
