  • Logitech G515 TKL Gaming Keyboard Upgrade: Magnetic Analog Switches

Logitech G515 TKL Gaming Keyboard Upgrade: Magnetic Analog Switches

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Logitech G515 Rapid TKL gaming keyboard features a low-profile design with magnetic analogue switches, marking its first attempt in this category.
    2. The tenkeyless (TKL) design allows for more desk space, essential for gamers, while offering customizable actuation distances from 0.1 mm to 2.5 mm.
    3. It includes a stainless steel top plate, sound dampening layers, pre-lubed switches, and double-shot PBT keycaps for improved sound quality.
    4. The G515 Rapid TKL is available in black and white, priced at $170, which is higher than the G515 TKL but lower than the Pro X TKL Rapid.
    5. The keyboard connects via a detachable USB Type-C cable and is expected to be available on major retail platforms soon.

Logitech has refreshed its G515 TKL gaming keyboard with a new Rapid TKL model that includes magnetic analogue switches in a slim design. This marks the company’s first attempt at creating a low-profile analogue keyboard. While there are other options available separately, like the G915 for low-profile and the Pro X TKL Rapid for analogue, the G515 Rapid TKL combines both features effectively.

    TKL Design and Features

The TKL design, which stands for tenkeyless, includes only the keys that are essential for gamers, giving them more room on their desks for quick mouse movements. This keyboard is wired and has a height of just 22 mm. The standout improvement here is the switches, which enable users to customize the actuation distance from 0.1 mm to 2.5 mm. Additional features include Rapid Trigger, SOCD (Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions) key priority, and multipoint actuation.

    Build and Sound Quality

The keyboard features a stainless steel top plate. It boasts several sound dampening layers, pre-lubed switches, POM stems, and double-shot PBT keycaps, all contributing to a quieter sound profile as per the company’s claims. There’s also an option for customizable RGB lighting. The G515 Rapid TKL has a weight of 800 grams and connects via a USB Type-C with a detachable cable.

    Pricing and Availability

The Logitech G515 Rapid TKL is available in black and white, retailing at $170. This is $50 more than the G515 TKL and $20 less than the Pro X TKL Rapid, which is priced at $160 on Amazon. Currently, it can be purchased through the official website, but it is expected to appear on Amazon and other retailers shortly. Logitech also offers a wireless version of the low-profile G515 TKL for $160 on Amazon, although this model lacks the analogue magnetic switches.

Acer Aethon 550 TKL Gaming Keyboard: 150 Hours Battery Life

    Key Takeaways

    1. Acer launched the Aethon 550 TKL, a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard with tri-mode connectivity (Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz, wired).
    2. The keyboard features hot-swappable switches, allowing users to easily change the switch layout.
    3. Battery life can last up to 150 hours on a single charge, likely in 2.4 GHz mode, with a 1,000 Hz polling rate.
    4. It includes per-key RGB lighting for customization and a detachable USB Type-C cable.
    5. The Aethon 550 TKL is priced at €129 (approximately $150) but availability details are not yet announced.

Acer has revealed several new items at IFA 2025. In addition to gaming laptops, desktops, and monitors, the tech giant has launched a new gaming accessory known as the Aethon 550 TKL. This is a conventional tenkeyless mechanical keyboard that features tri-mode connectivity.

    Connectivity Features

The new keyboard offers Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz, and wired modes, enabling users to easily switch between multiple devices. Acer emphasizes the hot-swappable feature of the Aethon 550 TKL, which permits users to modify the switch layout with ease (45 pcs Akko V3 Creamy Blue Pro currently priced at $10.39 on Amazon).

    Battery Performance

Regarding battery life, Acer claims that the keyboard can last up to 150 hours on a single charge. Although the company did not specify the connectivity mode for this duration, it is likely applicable to the 2.4 GHz setting. Users can expect a fast and responsive experience due to the 1,000 Hz polling rate.

However, it should be noted that this polling rate isn’t the highest available, as many modern wireless gaming keyboards can reach up to 8,000 Hz. Another interesting feature of the Aethon 550 TKL is its per-key RGB lighting, giving users the ability to personalize each key’s illumination through the included software.

    Additional Features and Pricing

Other important features of the Aethon 550 TKL include a detachable USB Type-C cable, N-Key rollover, and a sleek overall design. Pricing for the keyboard in the EU is set at €129, which is approximately $150. However, Acer hasn’t yet announced when it will be available for purchase.

  • NuPhy Halo65 V2: QMK/VIA Support, 1000Hz Polling, More Colors

    NuPhy Halo65 V2: QMK/VIA Support, 1000Hz Polling, More Colors

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Halo65 V2 is priced at $119.95 and comes in five colors: Obsidian Black, Iconic White, Mojito, Blue Lagoon, and Sakura Fizz.
    2. Key upgrades include QMK/VIA support for extensive customization and improved 2.4G wireless mode with a 1000Hz polling rate for enhanced speed.
    3. The design features a see-through bottom case for the Halo 2.0 glow system, offering brighter LEDs and customizable lighting with SignalRGB.
    4. The keyboard uses NuPhy’s custom 5-pin mechanical switches in four variants and has double-shot PBT keycaps, along with a gasket mount and sound-dampening system.
    5. The Halo65 V2 is a significant advancement over its predecessor, competing with customizable 65% keyboards like the Keychron Q2.

NuPhy has launched the upgraded version of its 65% Halo gaming keyboard. After teasing it on X, the Halo65 V2 is now available for purchase. This new model enhances the design, keycaps, switch options, and software support, which should lead to quicker input response, better sound, and a more polished overall experience.

    Pricing and Color Options

You can buy the Halo65 V2 from NuPhy’s online shop for $119.95. It is offered in five colors: Obsidian Black (black), Iconic White (white), Mojito (green), Blue Lagoon (blue), and Sakura Fizz (pink).

    Significant Upgrades

Initially, the Halo65 V2 was thought to be just a minor update, but NuPhy has implemented numerous upgrades. The most notable improvement is the QMK/VIA support, which allows for extensive customization. Similar to the previous version, the new model supports three connectivity modes, but the 2.4G wireless mode has significantly improved with a 1000Hz polling rate for enhanced speed.

NuPhy has also improved the overall design. The Halo65 V2 maintains the aluminum top frame, but the bottom case is now see-through to accommodate the upgraded Halo 2.0 glow system, offering a more balanced and ambient lighting effect along the edges. Alongside this, NuPhy claims that the LEDs are brighter and more powerful, and users can control the lighting entirely with SignalRGB.

    Switches and Keycaps

The Halo65 V2 is designed around NuPhy’s custom 5-pin mechanical switches, which come in four variants: Mint, Raspberry, Lemon, and Blush Max. All of these switches are south-facing, hot-swappable, and include a POM stem, PC top housing, and PA66 nylon bottom housing. NuPhy has also substituted the KOP keycaps with its double-shot PBT keycaps in the mSA profile. Additional features consist of a gasket mount and a six-layer sound-dampening system, which are expected to enhance both acoustics and typing experience.

With all its features, the Halo65 V2 appears to be a significant advancement rather than just a small update. Priced at $119.95, it competes directly with other customizable 65% keyboards like the Keychron Q2 (currently $94.99 on Amazon), but the combination of QMK/VIA support, 1000 Hz polling, and NuPhy’s distinctive design should make it more appealing. The keyboard is available now on NuPhy’s website and is likely to be listed on Amazon in the near future.

  • Iqunix EV63 Launches as Affordable Hall-Effect Keyboard Option

Iqunix EV63 Launches as Affordable Hall-Effect Keyboard Option

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Iqunix EV63 gaming keyboard starts at $169, with pricier models at $189, differing from initial price guesses.
    2. The EV63 features Iqunix’s Magnetic X Pro switch, offering improved sound quality and reduced wobbling.
    3. Unlike the EZ63, the EV63 has a tray mount, making it feel stiffer compared to the gasket mount of the previous model.
    4. The EV63 retains desirable features like double-shot PBT keycaps and web-based configuration software but lacks a carrying case and modding tools.
    5. The keyboard is constructed from CNC aluminum and includes sound-dampening materials to minimize noise.

We recently talked about Iqunix’s teaser for their new EV63 Hall-effect gaming keyboard. In that discussion, we guessed that the price would be around $200. Now, Iqunix has officially released the EV63 and shared the pricing details, and it turns out our guess was partly right and partly wrong. The cheapest model of the new Wooting 60HE rival starts at $169 on the Iqunix store, while the pricier models, both in black and white with clear PC keycaps, are priced at $189.

    Key Distinctions from the EZ63

There are noticeable differences between the EV63 and the EZ63 that we reviewed earlier in the year. Firstly, Iqunix has included their own Magnetic X Pro switch in the EV63. This switch has a design quite similar to the Gateron Jade Gaming switches, featuring a closed bottom for enhanced sound quality and a box stem to minimize any wobbling. Additionally, one significant change is that the EV63 has a tray mount, while the EZ63, which is currently priced at $181.99 on Amazon, utilizes a gasket mount. The entire casing is still made from CNC aluminium, and the keyboard is filled with sound-dampening materials, which should help reduce echo and unwanted noise. However, the tray mount will feel a bit stiffer than the previous model. In our review of the EZ63, we pointed out that the gasket mount, while stiff, was beneficial and likely contributed to the EZ63 being the best-sounding Hall-effect keyboard we’ve tested thus far.

Features Carried Over to the EV63

Many of the features we loved about the EZ63 can also be found in the EV63, such as the double-shot PBT keycaps and Iqunix’s reliable web-based configuration software. The removable side panels are back too, making it easy for gamers to clean out the crumbs that inevitably build up in their setups. However, a significant difference between the EV63 and EZ63 is that the EV63 does not include a carrying case, a fancy coiled cable, or the tool needed for disassembly and modding. These omissions were likely made to keep costs down.

Iqunix’s new keyboard might not have all the extras, but it still offers impressive features for gamers looking for quality.

    Keycap Customization

The accessory comes with black PBT keycaps that are also interchangeable with other colors like Green, White, or Quartz – and even with Razer’s Phantom Stealth Pudding sets. Each key can be illuminated separately with Chroma RGB lighting, allowing for a personalized look.

    Sound and Ergonomics

The V4 TKL HyperSpeed is designed to provide a “clean” typing sound thanks to its internal structure, which includes dual foam layers placed between the 5052 Aluminum Alloy Top case and the bottom case. The keyboard also has a 2-stage kickstand that may enhance ergonomics for users.

  • Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini Keyboard: New White Color & Fast Inputs

Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini Keyboard: New White Color & Fast Inputs

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini is a 60% wired keyboard now available in white, featuring Gen-2 optical analog switches for customizable actuation points, priced at $179.99.
    2. Razer’s optical analog switches are designed for reliability, avoiding issues with magnetic interference commonly found in Hall effect switches, appealing to competitive gamers.
    3. The keyboard includes advanced features like Rapid Trigger and Snap Tap, enhancing user experience, though Snap Tap is not allowed in some esports games.
    4. The Huntsman V3 Pro Mini offers a compact design ideal for gaming on the go, with customizable Chroma RGB lighting and dual-purpose modifier keys for added functionality.
    5. Razer’s commitment to performance is reflected in the Huntsman V3 Pro series, recognized as the most-used keyboard brand by esports professionals, ensuring precision and consistency in gameplay.

Razer is revamping its gaming accessories with fresh color options. The latest addition is the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini, now available in a sleek white finish. This wired 60% keyboard features Razer’s Gen-2 optical analog switches that allow users to customize actuation points. You can already purchase the white model for $179.99 at Razer stores and other outlets.

    Optical vs. Hall Effect Switches

Although Hall effect switches are trending, Razer argues that its optical analog version is more dependable. Targeting competitive gamers, this technology uses light beams to measure keystrokes, thus avoiding issues with magnetic interference. While users of Hall effect keyboards, like the NuPhy Field75HE, might disagree, both methods offer accurate input options. The Huntsman V3 Pro Mini allows users to program two actions per keypress, enhancing both gaming and overall productivity.

    Prices and Features

The new white keyboard comes at a high price for a compact wired keyboard. However, Razer has integrated much of its latest technology into this minimalist design. The Rapid Trigger feature ensures that keypresses reset immediately when they hit the bottom. On the other hand, the Snap Tap feature can help prevent accidental conflicting commands. While this has been banned in popular esports games like Counter-Strike 2, it can be helpful for novice gamers who may struggle with controls.

If the Mini version feels too small, Razer also offers the Huntsman V3 Pro in TKL and full-size models. Nevertheless, with key combinations available for adjusting actuation settings, Razer has worked to make the 60% form practical. To optimize the experience, gamers are encouraged to use the Synapse 4 app, where nearly any key can be remapped.

    Aesthetic Appeal

Even a stylish gaming keyboard like Razer’s can blend into a crowd of black peripherals. The white Huntsman V3 Pro Mini can bring a unique flair to an otherwise dull setup. Additionally, it features customizable per-key Chroma RGB lighting. Users can sync the lighting effects with other white Razer gear, such as the Kraken Kitty V2 headset.

    Press release via Razer PR

    Performance Meets Style

The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini White Edition combines performance with elegance. Built with advanced Razer Analog Optical Switches Gen-2, it provides incredibly fast actuation and responsiveness, making every keystroke as perfect as its aesthetic. This keyboard sets a new benchmark for both design and functionality.

By using the right key combination, gamers can quickly make onboard adjustments to actuation point and Rapid Trigger settings in real-time, with feedback shown on the number row. Razer Snap Tap, which comes disabled by default, can be easily activated with a key combo, allowing for even more customization through Razer Synapse, where players can save their unique settings to various profile slots.

    Compact Design for Gamers

Designed for gamers who value both portability and space for mouse movement, the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini White Edition offers a compact design without compromising on features. The Dual-purpose Modifier Keys in the bottom-right corner serve as arrow keys when pressed, reducing the need for additional keys. This keyboard is ideal for home use, tournaments, and gaming on the move.

    Switch Technology Comparison

Razer™ Analog Optical Switches Gen-2 operates using light for actuation, ensuring precise and reliable performance across different environments. In contrast, Hall Effect switches utilize magnetic fields detected by sensors to determine actuation points. However, Hall Effect switches are vulnerable to external magnetic interference and temperature variations, which can affect performance consistency. Although both types offer analog capabilities, esports professionals worldwide prefer Razer Analog Optical Switches Gen-2 for their reliability, with the Huntsman V3 Pro series being the #1 keyboard on ProSettings.net as of December 2024.

    Precision in Performance

Analog Optical switches provide a precision advantage, maintaining linearity consistently across the full key travel compared to magnetic switches. Due to the nature of magnets, Hall Effect switches can exhibit variability and lack linearity throughout the key travel. Gamers can trust that each switch in the Huntsman V3 Pro line offers the highest level of precision and consistency.

Crafted for optimum performance, the Huntsman V3 Pro series redefines gaming with its Analog Optical switches. Every switch is factory-calibrated for accuracy and is unaffected by external interference, allowing gamers to enjoy true analog input, adjustable actuation, and Rapid Trigger Mode.

    A Commitment to Excellence

Being recognized as the most-used keyboard brand by esports pros on ProSettings.net, as of December 2024, is a testament to Razer’s dedication to esports excellence. This achievement is just a milestone on the journey toward even greater heights. Here’s to breaking new ground and setting new records in gaming.

The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini White Edition is now available at Razer.com, RazerStores, and authorized retailers worldwide.

  • LUMINKEY Unveils Magger 68 HE: PBT Keycaps & GATERON Switch

LUMINKEY Unveils Magger 68 HE: PBT Keycaps & GATERON Switch

LUMINKEY has introduced its newest gaming keyboard, the Magger 68 HE, which exemplifies a blend of style and practicality. This small yet powerful keyboard is crafted to improve both work and gaming experiences, making it a standout piece on any desk. Let’s delve into what makes the Magger 68 HE a noteworthy option for both enthusiasts and professionals.

    Design and Build

The LUMINKEY Magger 68 HE boasts a sleek, minimalist design that seamlessly fits into modern desk configurations. With its 68% ANSI layout, the keyboard provides an ideal mix of compactness and functionality. The 68 well-spaced keys ensure all the functionalities of a bigger keyboard while saving space. A 7° typing angle is specifically designed to offer ergonomic comfort during long typing sessions, reducing wrist stress and boosting overall typing efficiency.

The keyboard’s construction is enhanced by a split top and bottom case sandwich structure, adding stability and texture. This design, secured with screws, creates a closed space that reduces internal component movement and vibration, thus prolonging the keyboard’s lifespan. The aluminum plate inside adds to the stability and durability, leading to a crisper typing sound.

    Premium Materials and Keycaps

The Magger 68 HE uses high-quality PBT keycaps, developed in collaboration with the renowned ALOHAKB custom team. PBT is celebrated for its excellent wear resistance and reduced oil shine compared to standard ABS keycaps. The thicker PBT material offers a more substantial feel and retains its texture and look over time, enhancing durability and aesthetic appeal.

In contrast, typical magnetic switch keyboards often use lower-quality materials, resulting in poor thickness and feel. These materials wear out faster and degrade in quality over time, affecting the keyboard’s usability and user experience. The Magger 68 HE’s keycaps reflect LUMINKEY’s dedication to providing a premium product.

    Switch Performance

The Magger 68 HE is equipped with the exclusive GATERON custom dual-track Magnetic Pro switch, delivering sensitive and stable performance. This switch is optimized for higher trigger accuracy and quicker response times, making it perfect for demanding gamers and high-efficiency office users. The magnetic activation assures outstanding performance with instant and precise activation, catering to those who require top-tier responsiveness.
