Samsung Next-Gen Foldables & Smartwatches Hinted at FCC

    Key Takeaway

    – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra have received FCC certification.
    – Galaxy Watch 9 (40mm and 44mm) and Watch Ultra 2 also certified.
    – Model numbers indicate device types: F9xx = Fold, F7xx = Flip, LXX = Watch.
    – FCC certification suggests a launch is on schedule for July Unpacked event.
    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 “wide” and Watch 9 Classic are absent from FCC listings, casting doubt on US availability.

According to a recent FCC listing in the US, the official database of electronic devices approved by the Federal Communications Commission, several of Samsung’s next-gen foldable phones and smartwatches have obtained the necessary certification required for commercial launch. These include:

    • SM-F776U: Anticipated to launch as the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
    • SM-F976U: Anticipated to launch as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
    • SM-L340 and SM-L345: Likely the 40mm Galaxy Watch 9, in Wi-Fi and cellular versions, respectively.
    • SM-L350 and SM-L355: Likely the 44mm Galaxy Watch 9, in Wi-Fi and cellular versions, respectively.
    • SM-L715: Likely the cellular variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

How these model numbers are deciphered

For readers who are wondering how the aforementioned devices are inferred from the model numbering, Phonearena provides a good overview. For example, Samsung’s book-style Fold phones typically use SM-F9xx numbers, while the Flip phones typically use SM-F7xx numbers. As for the Samsung Galaxy Watches, these have used model numbers beginning with SM-LXX for several generations now.

What the FCC listing indicates about launch timeline

Electronic devices only make it into FCC records when they are approaching commercial launch, so these filings suggest Samsung’s launch is proceeding on schedule. Notably absent from FCC listings, however, are the SM-F971U (Galaxy Z Fold 8 “wide” foldable) and the SM-L510/SM-L515 (Galaxy Watch 9 Classic). While this doesn’t rule out a US launch, it does cast some doubt on their availability alongside the core Fold and Flip lines. Either way, clarity is expected at Samsung’s Unpacked launch event on July 22 in London.

Leaked Samsung Fold 8 & Ultra Replicas Show Major Design Shift

    Key Takeaway

    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra have very different form factors (wider vs. narrower).
    – Choosing between them will come down to personal preference.
    – The wider design follows a 2026-2027 trend influenced by Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone.
    – Huawei released a wide foldable (Pura X Max) before both Samsung and Apple.
    – Samsung’s Unpacked event is rumored for July 22; Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected in September.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra Design Comparrisons Leaked

After when the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 was spotted in the wild for the first time, and with the leaked replica of an iPhone Ultra/Fold, new images of Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra design models seem to highlight exactly how different Samsung’s new foldables might be from each other. The side-by-side photo of the low-quality replicas strongly suggests that picking between the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the narrower Fold 8 Ultra will come down to personal preference.

Form Factor Differences and New Trends

This emphasises the massive differences in the form factor that the new, wider Fold is expected to bring. While the Fold 8 Ultra is said to be more or less identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the design of the Fold 8 follows the new trend that more or less every phone-maker will be jumping on in 2026-2027. It is largely believed that Samsung went down the wider Fold path due mainly to Apple’s decision to make the upcoming foldable iPhone wider.

    Competition Arrives and Release Timeline

However, Huawei has beat both tech giants to the punch by releasing the wide Huawei Pura X Max months earlier. The wider Fold 8 and also the Fold 8 Ultra are expected to break cover on July 22, when Samsung is rumored to be holding its next Unpacked event. Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone (Ultra) is said to launch in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, Ice Universe has reported.

    Key Takeaway

    – First real-world sighting of Galaxy Z Fold 8 in South Korea.
    – The “Wide” suffix is dropped; wider model is now just Z Fold 8, while narrower model becomes Z Fold 8 Ultra.
    – Expected to feature a near-square 4:3 inner display and be extremely thin at 4.3 mm.
    – Will reportedly lack S Pen support and have a dual 50 MP camera (no telephoto lens).
    – Rumored to launch July 22, 2026, at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 glimpsed in South Korea

A Samsung employee was snapped using what looks like the coming Galaxy Z Fold 8 at a restaraunt in South Korea. Because of these photos (see below), we now have the first potential real-world look at the thing ahead of it’s supposed July launch. The spotting was first posted early this morning on DCInside’s Galaxy Gallery forum by a user who took the pictures using 20x zoom. The phone was inside Samsung’s internal anti-leak protective case — a round cover often used on prototype units to keep final design secrets safe. Even with the cover, the device’s wide shape was easy to see. This probably led to its corelaton with the handset that has been heavily leaked through other channels in the last two months.

    Leaker confirms key details

Leaker Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) found the post hours later. He confirmed the device is the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and added that the “Wide” suffix has apparently been droped. The wider shape is instead simply being called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the current skinny design will be renamed as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (according to a past leak – read more about that here). This device has been no stranger to leaks. Screen protector leaks earlier this month pretty much confirmed the much wider aspect ratio and added more weight to the idea of a near-square 4:3 inner screen (for a more tablet-like feel when opened).

    Dimensions and expected specifications

Leaked dimensions put it at 161.4 mm wide and just 4.3 mm thin when opened — again, wway slimmer than rivals. On specs, it is expected to give up S Pen support and have a dual 50 MP rear camera system with no telephoto, compared to the three-camera setup on the normal model. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumored to become official on July 22, 2026, at a Galaxy Unpacked event said to be held in London. DCInside, @UniverseIce on X (formerly Twitter)

Samsung Employee Possibly Spotted Using the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in South Korea

A Samsung employee was photographed using what seems to be the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 at a restaurant in South Korea. Thanks to these images (see below), we get the first potential real-world glimpse of the device ahead of it’s expected July launch. The sighting was first posted early this morning on DCInside’s Galaxy Gallery forum by a user who photographed the device using 20x zoom. The phone was enclosed in Samsung’s internal anti-leak protective casing — a cylindrical enclosure commonly used on prototype units to keep final design details a secret. Despite the cover, the device’s wide form factor was clearly visible. This probably led to its corelaton with the handset that has been extensively leaked through other channels over the past two months.

Leaker Confirms “Wide” Suffix is Dropped for the Standard Model

Leaker Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) picked up the post hours later. He confirmed the device is the Galaxy Z Fold 8, specifically adding that the “Wide” suffix has apparently been dropped. The wider form factor is instead simply being called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the existing narrower design will be simply rebranded as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (as per a past leak – read more about that here). This device has been no stranger to leaks. Screen protector leaks earlier this month practically confirmed the significantly wider aspect ratio and added more weight to the expectation of a near-square 4:3 inner display (for a more tablet-like experience when unfolded).

Leaked Dimensions and Specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8

Leaked dimensions place it at 161.4 mm wide and just 4.3 mm thin when unfolded — again, wway slimmer than competitors. On specs, it is expected to forgo S Pen support and pack a dual 50 MP rear camera system with no telephoto, compared to the triple-camera array on the standard model. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumored to go official on July 22, 2026, at a Galaxy Unpacked event said to be held in London. DCInside, @UniverseIce on X (formerly Twitter)

Leak: Galaxy Z Fold 8 waited 7 years for design Apple gives day one

    Key Takeaway

    – Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is finally expected to have a “significantly improved,” near-crease-less display, matching the Oppo Find N6’s benchmark.
    – The crease improvement will reportedly apply to both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
    – Earlier reports doubting crease improvements were based on non-final prototypes.
    – The official unveiling is rumored for Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 22.
    – Apple’s foldable iPhone Ultra is also reportedly targeting a near-crease-less design for a September launch.

Major Crease Improvement Rumored for Galaxy Z Fold 8

After seeing the leaked design model of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, we are now learning that the most persistent criticism of Samsung’s foldable lineup, the visible and tactile display crease, may finally be going away (or almost). One of the most prolific industry leaksters has just reported that the latest test units for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series feature a “significantly improved” crease that is “just as impressive” as the solution found on the Oppo Find N6.

Dueling Designs and a Single Fix

The update reportedly applies to both new models in Samsung’s 2026 Fold lineup, made of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (allegedly, the new, wider Fold), and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (the taller, narrower successor to the Fold 7). The Oppo Find N6 is currently the industry benchmark, utilizing a specialized hinge and display technology to achieve a near-invisible and “zero-feel” surface. If Samsung has successfully mirrored this engineering, it would mark a massive leap forward for the series.

    From Skepticism to Optimism

Earlier rumors were skeptical of any crease improvements, but the tipster says those reports were based on early, non-final prototypes. Samsung is expected to officially unveil the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra at its Unpacked event, said to take place on July 22. Of course, there’s another phone that’s reported to get very close to the crease-less display dream and that’s Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra, which (rumor has it) is on track for a September launch despite a number of trial production issues.

    • Galaxy Z Fold 8: new, wider form factor
    • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: taller, narrower design
    • Oppo Find N6 remains current benchmark
    • Samsung Unpacked event set for July 22
    • Apple’s foldable iPhone Ultra reportedly launching in September

First hands-on: Samsung Galaxy Ultra rival feel in hand with dummy hints

    Key Takeaway

    – 2026: year of compact foldables with wide 3:2 or 4:3 tablet displays, led by Samsung’s wide Fold (Galaxy Z Fold 8) and followed by Apple, with Xiaomi also entering the form factor.
    – Extremely thin core design: folded thickness around 9.8 mm, thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, a highlight likely driving positive reception.
    – Camera setups diverge: Samsung and Apple rumored to use dual cameras; Xiaomi reportedly plans a triple-camera system.

As it seems, 2026 appears to be the year of compact foldables featuring a 3:2 or 4:3 wide display in tablet mode. following the release of Huawei Pura X Max, Samsung is set to launch its “wide fold” model soon, reportedly called Galaxy Z Fold 8, with Apple expected to enter later.

Based on early assessments, the wide successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to be impressively slim, with rumors of 9.8 mm thickness when folded. A hands-on video provides a glimpse of a more refined model, suggesting that the final design could deviate in a few points. When open, the device is described as thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, measured at the thinnest point rather than at the camera bump, hinting at a meticulous engineering approach similar to other premium foldables. Samsung’s approach reportedly includes a dual-camera system, while Xiaomi is rumored to pursue a triple-camera setup akin to Huawei.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Design Leak: Ultra-Thin, Light Rival to iPhone Ultra

    Key Takeaway

    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide aims for an ultra-slim folded profile (9.8mm) and lighter weight to boost pocketability, outperforming rivals like Huawei Pura X Max.
    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 (not Wide) is expected to keep around 4.1mm unfolded thickness with approx. 210g weight, maintaining a similar compact profile to the Fold 7 but lighter.
    – Samsung’s design shift targets a near-square 4:3 inner display and a tablet-like yet highly portable experience, potentially in response to an upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra.

Samsung is shaping up to challenge the anticipated foldable iPhone Ultra with a new ultra-slim design, presenting its own Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. The buzz around this device centers on a thinner and lighter form factor that could redefine pocketability in the large foldable market. The initial chatter suggests a bold move toward a nearly seamless blend of portability and functionality, aiming to lure fans of big-screen experiences into a more convenient, everyday carry.

    Design ambitions and weight goals

Insiders claim the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will push the bounds of being invincibly thinner and lighter than rivals, potentially setting an unparalleled benchmark for pocketability. This push signals a shift in Samsung’s approach to foldables where the emphasis is on reducing bulk while preserving display real estate, a combination that could reshape consumer expectations for premium devices in this category. The design philosophy seems to embrace a near massless feel without compromising screen size or usability.

    Current models set the stage

For context, the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 stands at 8.9mm when folded (4.2mm unfolded) and weighs 215g. If the early leaks hold true, the taller Galaxy Z Fold 8 may maintain around 4.1mm of unfolded thickness while tipping the scale at a lighter 210g. This pattern hints at a consistent drive to shed thickness and weight across the lineup, aligning with trends toward more portable foldables that don’t skimp on the inner display or overall user experience.

    • The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumored to shrink the folded profile to about 9.8mm
    • Compared to competitors like the Huawei Pura X Max at 11.2mm, this would be notably thinner

    Strategic influences and display goals

Samsung’s design shift is speculated to be influenced by the forthcoming foldable iPhone, which is expected to share similar dimensions with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide but may not match the extreme thinness. By prioritizing significant weight reduction and a near-square 4:3 inner display, Samsung aims to deliver a tablet-like experience that remains extremely portable, blurring the lines between a phone and a compact tablet. Industry watchers are watching closely to see if these design choices translate into real-world advantages in daily use and durability.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, Fold 8 miss Galaxy S26 Ultra features (leak)

    Key Takeaway

    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 series reportedly ships without S Pen support, continuing the stylus-free approach.
    – Fold 8 and Fold 8 Wide maintain a thinner profile, prioritizing design over pen usability.
    – Entire Fold 8 lineup reportedly lacks privacy screen technology found on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Bad news for some Samsung fans on the horizon. In a latest whisper from a tipster, the South Korean giant seems to be doubling down on its vaunted “vanity-over-utility” design language for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series of foldables, at least according to the leak. The stance here is that form may trump function again, and that could irk those who prize practical features over flashy aesthetics.

Design direction and S Pen question

According to the fresh leak, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will officially continue the trend set by its predecessor, launching without S Pen support, and so will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. The report hints at a continued absence of stylus compatibility, which could disappoint long-time users who value note taking and precision input. The shift appears to be part of a broader design philosophy rather than a one-off experiment, suggesting Samsung is betting on a slimmer, cleaner silhouette rather than pen-based utility.

    Hardware slimming and competition

Samsung famously stripped away the stylus digitizer and under-display camera from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to achieve a 4.2mm thinness. While many power users hoped for a “pro” return of the stylus this year, the leak indicates that the Fold 8 will stick to a thinner profile to better compete with rivals. This move might appeal to buyers who prioritize sleekness and pocketability over extra input methods, even if it reduces some capabilities.

    Privacy features and market positioning

In related news, the inside info also notes that the entire Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup will lack the privacy screen technology of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which was advertised as one of the main selling points of Samsung’s slab flagship. If true, this decision could influence buyer choices, especially among those who value privacy overlays and secure viewing angles in bright environments. It also signals a possible blurring of lines between premium flagships and foldables in Samsung’s lineup.

Samsung may cancel its popular Galaxy folding phone, says leak

    Key Takeaway

    – The rumor claims Samsung may end the Galaxy Z Flip line, citing lack of Flip 9 leaks as a sign.
    – There’s contradictory chatter: some sources say there won’t be a Galaxy Z Flip 8 this year, despite evidence of its existence.
    – All statements are based on early supply-chain rumors and should be treated as speculative.

Rumors from a famed tipster suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might signal the end of Samsungs most budget friendly clamshell foldable. The chatter is fresh, yet the source hints at a major shift that could redefine the lineup, leaving fans to wonder what comes next for the iconic Flip family. The tone is urgent, and the implications broad, inviting readers to weigh the plausibility of a pause or a pivot in the folding phone saga.

    Varied writing styles across paragraphs

In the second paragraph, the report shifts to a more cautious, almost analytical register, noting that product planning occurs well ahead of time and that the absence of early supply chain chatter about a Flip 9 might imply Samsung is reconsidering the series. The writing keeps a measured pace, presenting a hypothesis rather than a verdict, and emphasizes the temporal distance between planning and public visibility. This tone leans toward speculation tempered by industry norms.

    Contrasting perspectives and voices

The third paragraph adopts a quoted, testimonial voice, citing Instant Digital with a direct assertion about the lack of leaks for a Flip 9, while acknowledging the improbability of nothing emerging if a project were underway. The sentence structure becomes a bit denser, weaving attribution with a cautious stance that commas some readers feel heavy, yet it preserves a conversational feel that invites skepticism and curiosity among readers.

Skepticism about the reliability of early leaks

A fourth paragraph introduces the tipster’s three core reasons as a list, but the list is embedded within prose rather than as bullet points, creating a brisk, compact rhythm. This paragraph repeats the notion that early supply chain data is volatile and subject to change, while the writer’s voice keeps a wary, almost conspiratorial undertone to emphasize how rumors can mislead, especially when timing and models are involved.

    Industry context and launch timing

In a broader frame, another paragraph notes related chatter about no Galaxy Z Flip 8 this year, conflicting with available evidence like renders, cases, and design prototypes, plus a rumored launch window. The narrative voice remains cautious, acknowledging conflicting signals while pointing to the difficulty of reconciling insider whispers with tangible proof, and inviting readers to treat the rumors as unconfirmed hints rather than facts.

    Conclusion and caveats

As the piece wraps, the emphasis returns to uncertainty, stating the rumors stem from early supply chain speculation that can shift, evolve, or vanish. The language underscores that the Galaxy Unpacked date is tentative and could change, while the possibility still lingers that future models or naming conventions might alter the expected lineup. Readers are reminded to consider the sources’ reliability and the ever-shifting nature of tech rumor cycles.

    5. The use of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor highlights the device’s high performance despite being a more affordable option.

Following the recent CAD renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that appeared yesterday (March 24), new images of a potentially more captivating foldable device have emerged. Samsung has announced that it is developing a budget-friendly book-style foldable device. The Galaxy Wide Fold or Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, or whatever name it may eventually adopt, is anticipated to be released alongside the higher-end models in July.

    Design Insights

The new renders, sourced from OnLeaks via Android Headlines, depict a Galaxy Z Fold phone that is shorter yet wider. They indicate that the slim profile will stay intact, although the camera count will be reduced to two. Apart from its compact size, there do not appear to be any significant design alterations.

    Expected Specifications

The report outlines some of the anticipated specs for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. It is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and, in line with earlier leaks, will feature a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging capabilities. Android Headlines also confirms the same screen sizes as previously disclosed: a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display. This configuration results in a 4:3 aspect ratio for the device.

    Dimensions and Comparisons

As a more compact choice, the Wide Fold is expected to measure 123.9×161.4×4.9 mm when opened, including the bezels. Without the bezels, the phone measures approximately 4.3 mm. When folded, its dimensions are anticipated to be 123.9×82.2×9.8 mm, making the Wide Fold a bit thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is likely to share the same dimensions as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (available on Amazon). Keep in mind that these are preliminary renders and dimensions may not be precise.

The decrease in camera count is understandable, but the continued use of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC is a pleasing feature, even though this phone is positioned as a more affordable option compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
