Asus Teases 500Hz ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG Monitor at CES 2025
Asus is among several companies that have taken advantage of Samsung Display’s newest QD-OLED panels for their latest gaming monitors. Other brands, like Gigabyte, MSI, and Samsung Electronics, are also in the mix at the moment. However, we wouldn’t be shocked if more gaming monitor brands showcased new models at CES 2025 happening this week in Las Vegas.
New Addition to the ROG Strix Series
In line with this, Asus has introduced a new product in its ROG Strix line, building on the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM that was revealed just last week. The company has unveiled the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG, which acts as a follow-up to last year’s ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDNG (currently priced at $699.99 on Amazon). The XG27AQDPG maintains a resolution of 1440p on its 27-inch display, unlike the PG27UCDM.
Enhanced Refresh Rate
Although the XG27AQDPG shares the same resolution as the XG27ACDNG, it outshines it with a higher refresh rate. Matching the Aorus FO27Q5P, the XG27AQDPG reaches an impressive peak of 500 Hz, featuring 0.03 ms GtG response times, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color space, and providing ‘up to 20% brighter’ full panel brightness. In addition, the XG27AQDPG includes DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 options with variable refresh rates (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for the HDMI connection.
OLED Care Pro Software
Additionally, Asus has incorporated its OLED Care Pro software to help lessen the risk of OLED burn-in. This software can adjust taskbar brightness, monitor persistent image outlines, and automatically tweak the overall brightness of the display, among other functionalities. Asus has openly confirmed that it is working on new laptops. Recently, the company announced that it will be hosting two events at CES 2025 in Las Vegas next month. While specific details were not shared, it was clear that a new series of gaming laptops is in the pipeline.
Upcoming Laptop Releases
Recent leaks indicate that Asus plans to launch updated versions of the ROG Strix 16 and ROG Strix Scar 18, along with a refreshed ROG Flow Z13, which currently retails for $1,599.99 on Amazon. Asus has also hinted at these updates across its social media platforms, like Weibo and X (which used to be Twitter). According to VideoCardz, the first of two videos seems to highlight the ROG Flow Z13, which is expected to feature AMD Strix Halo APUs.
Specifications and Features
According to the latest leaks, the 13-inch convertible will come with options for 12 and 16-core CPUs, as well as a robust Radeon 8060S iGPU. The second video showcases new Strix laptops, which are anticipated to align with Intel’s newly launched Arrow Lake architecture and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics. Asus Zenbook 14 OLED, Vivobook 18, and 3 Vivobook 16 Leaked Before CES 2025
Asus has confirmed that it will hold two events next month during CES 2025 in Las Vegas. As we talked about earlier, it looks like the company is working on new Windows laptops that feature a focus on ‘AI’. In line with this, information about several new Vivobook and Zenbook models has started to pop up at various retailers, although these listings have since been taken down.

Despite the removals, sites like VideoCardz were able to grab screenshots of these listings before they disappeared. At this moment, five new laptop models have been spotted online:
It’s likely that Asus has more Zenbook updates in the pipeline, especially since we’ve only seen a new version of the Zenbook 14 UX3405 (currently priced at $839 on Amazon) so far. Considering when these listings appeared, we think it’s probable that they will be unveiled at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show.
Processor Insights
In addition, it appears that Asus has plans for laptops featuring Intel‘s Arrow Lake-H and Raptor Lake Refresh, along with models using AMD Ryzen 200 (Hawk Point) and Ryzen AI 300 (Krackan) series APUs. Asus has revealed its latest high-end gaming smartphone: the ROG Phone 9. Similar to last year, it has a ‘Pro’ version that doesn’t feature any specification enhancements. Instead, the ROG Phone 9 Pro comes with customizable LEDs on the back, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. The top-tier ROG Phone 9 Pro model boasts up to 1 TB of storage and 24 GB of RAM, as earlier leaks suggested. Plus, purchasers will receive a complimentary AeroActive X cooler.

Inside, the Asus ROG Phone 9 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The base model includes 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which maxes out at 512 GB, but without an increase in RAM. It’s equipped with Asus’ proprietary ROG GameCool 9 cooling system, adaptive triggers, and compatibility with a variety of gaming accessories from Asus.

The ROG Phone 9 is available in two colors: Phantom Black and Storm White. However, only the Pro version comes in Storm White. It features a matte finish with a ‘crystallized nano structure’ designed to resist fingerprints. Additionally, it includes AI-driven functionalities like X Sense 3, which “utilizes AI image recognition to streamline gaming activities such as identifying key events and automatically gathering items.” It can even enhance skills on your behalf, though this will likely depend on developer support and may only work with select games.

Furthermore, the ROG Phone 9 includes AI-enabled text recognition and noise cancellation features. Asus has significantly raised the bar with the ROG Phone 9, which features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display boasting a refresh rate of 185 Hz and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. However, the dynamic refresh rate operates only between 1 and 120 Hz. In reality, most games likely won’t achieve 185 Hz on a mobile processor, but a few might manage it through AI-enhanced upscaling and frame generation technology.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 is equipped with a 5,800 mAh battery that supports 65 W fast charging via cable and 15 W wirelessly.
