Lava Launches Yuva Smartphone with 5,000 mAh Battery

Lava has added a new member to its budget-friendly Yuva series, named the Yuva Smart. This latest entry-level smartphone comes right after the Yuva 2, which was released in December 2024. When we compare, the Yuva Smart features a somewhat bigger display and a less powerful processor than the Yuva 2. To be more specific, the Yuva Smart has a 6.75-inch LCD display (increased from 6.67 inches) with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

    Specifications and Performance

This smartphone is powered by a Unisoc 9863A octa-core processor, combined with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 512 GB using a MicroSD card. It operates on Android 14 Go Edition right out of the box, but the company has not mentioned any information regarding future software updates. In terms of camera, there’s a single 13 MP primary camera on the back, along with an AI secondary sensor. Meanwhile, the front includes a 5 MP camera for selfies and video calls.

    Design and Features

The Yuva Smart is about 8.8 mm (0.34 inches) thick and weighs roughly 193.3 grams (0.42 lbs). It is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery that allows for 10 W wired charging. Other features that come with the Yuva Smart include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, support for up to 3 GB of RAM expansion, and WiFi connectivity. Unfortunately, it does not have any protection against water or dust.

    Availability and Pricing

The Lava Yuva Smart smartphone is set to be available soon on Amazon in India, starting at a price of Rs 6,000 (~$69.52). It will be offered in Glossy Blue, Glossy White, and Glossy Lavender color choices. However, specific details about its availability have not been disclosed by Lava yet.

  • Nokia HMD Arc: Two Years of Security Updates with Android 14

Nokia HMD Arc: Two Years of Security Updates with Android 14

The Nokia HMD Arc is a recent budget smartphone aimed at users who don’t need high-end features. So far, there’s no information on when it will be released or how much it will cost. It is still uncertain if the Arc will be available in Europe, but that is a possibility. Looking at its specifications, the Nokia HMD Arc ranks among the more basic smartphones launched in 2024. The device features a 6.52-inch screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 576 and a typical refresh rate of 60Hz (which means it doesn’t support higher refresh rates). According to the manufacturer, the display can reach a peak brightness of 460 cd/m².

    Performance and Specs

Under the hood, the phone runs on an eight-core Unisoc SC9863A chipset. However, the cores utilized are simply Cortex-A55s, organized into two groups with maximum clock speeds of 1.6 GHz and 1.2 GHz, respectively. This particular SoC has appeared before in the Blackview A52 we reviewed. The device provides a modest amount of RAM and storage, with 4 GB and 64 GB, respectively. Fortunately, users can increase the storage via a microSD card. The camera setup includes a 13MP primary lens and a 5MP secondary camera.

    Features and Software

The device includes a built-in fingerprint sensor for easy unlocking. Given its basic specifications, it makes sense that HMD chose to run the Go edition of Android 14 on this device. The company has also committed to offering two years of security updates to keep the device more secure.
