The changes dont end there, dives can now be automatically recorded system-wide without having to specifically start the appropriate activity. Amazfit Users Rejoice: Zepp Health Extends Update for Many Models

      Key Takeaways

      1. Zepp Health has extended the update timeline for the Amazfit T-Rex 3 until September 2027, with ongoing security updates likely after that date.
      2. The Amazfit Helio Ring will receive updates until December 2023, while the Amazfit Active 2 Round is supported until June 2028, and the Balance 2 until December 2026.
      3. Guaranteed support focuses mainly on security updates, with no new features expected until the end of the specified periods.
      4. Zepp Health has a history of retrofitting older devices with new features, enhancing user experience.
      5. Continuing support for devices like the Amazfit Helio Ring is crucial for staying competitive in the smartwatch market.

Zepp Health has announced an extension to the update timelines for several of its smartwatches, and it’s quite a notable change. For instance, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 will now be updated until September 2027. It’s also important to note that Zepp Health may not completely stop support after this date, as the company indicates it will keep providing essential security updates for major vulnerabilities.

      Extended Support for Other Devices

The update period for the Amazfit Helio Ring has also been prolonged; it will continue to receive updates until December this year. Moreover, users of the Amazfit Active 2 Round can now enjoy updates until June 2028, and the Balance 2 will be supported until December 2026. However, it’s crucial to mention that this guaranteed support mainly concerns security updates. Thus, users should not anticipate any new features being introduced until the end of these specified periods.

      History of Feature Retrofitting

Nonetheless, Zepp Health has previously shown a pattern of enhancing older devices with new features, which greatly improves the experience for users. This choice was likely not made solely out of kindness since the Amazfit Helio Ring is the only smart ring in Amazfit’s lineup. Stopping support would be quite detrimental from a product strategy viewpoint if Zepp Health wants to stay competitive in the smartwatch market.
