Sony has declared its upcoming Xperia product launch event scheduled for May 17th, where it is anticipated to introduce the new Xperia 1 VI flagship smartphone. Limited information regarding this smartphone has already made its way online.
A report has indicated that the Xperia 1 VI flagship smartphone is projected to possess dimensions of 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.4mm, with slight enlargements in width and thickness in contrast to the Xperia 1 V due to the alteration in aspect ratio. Departing from the 21:9 ratio of its forerunners, the device will now embrace a more conventional 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Speculations suggest it will feature a 2K+ or Quad HD+ screen with a resolution of around 3200 x 1440 pixels, deviating from the 4K displays in earlier iterations.
Camera Specifications
Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding the camera specifications. Initially, there were claims that the Xperia 1 VI would incorporate a triple camera setup utilizing three 48MP Exmor T sensors, ensuring top-notch image quality across the primary, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses.
However, a more recent report has refuted these assertions, indicating that the Xperia 1 VI will house a 48 MP, f/1.9, 24 mm, 1/1.35 main camera, along with a 12 MP, f/2.2, 16 mm, 1/2.5 ultra-wide camera, and a 12 MP, f/2.3, 85mm, f/2.8, 125mm, 1/3.5 telephoto camera. This implies that only the primary camera will boast an Exmor T sensor. Notably, this mirrors the camera configuration of the current Xperia 1 V. Clarity on this aspect is likely to be provided during the official unveiling on May 17. Additionally, although the unveiling is set for May 17, the availability of the phones in stores may take a few more weeks.
