At this juncture, it's common knowledge that Sony is developing a fresh flagship smartphone within its Xperia 1 series, set to possibly debut in the second quarter of this year. Referred to as the Xperia 1 VI in previous reports, it was anticipated to incorporate three advanced 48MP Exmor T sensors. However, a recent leak on Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging platform, suggests otherwise.
New Camera Specifications
The leaked information indicates that the Xperia 1 VI will retain a 48 MP primary camera with specifications including f/1.9, 24 mm, 1/1.35. Alongside this, it will feature a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2, 16 mm, 1/2.5, and a 12 MP telephoto camera with f/2.3, 85mm, f/2.8, 125mm, 1/3.5. These camera details appear to mirror those found on the Xperia 1 V, which introduced the Exmor T sensor last year.
Potential Design Changes
If these revelations hold true, Sony seems to be opting for software enhancements over hardware upgrades, possibly leveraging AI technology. While the camera specifications may see little change, alterations in design are highly probable. Recent reports suggest that Sony is steering its future Xperia flagship towards a more conventional design, departing from the 21:9 aspect ratio. This shift will likely result in a device that is shorter and wider compared to its predecessors.
