Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Footage Reveals Launch Details

Key Takeaways

Samsung has finally unveiled its much-anticipated Galaxy Z TriFold last week at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2025 summit held in South Korea. While they showed off the device’s design, they chose not to let anyone handle it.

Closer Look at the Device

Despite this, some media from South Korea were able to get a better look at Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone, beyond what was shown during the initial event. Photos taken at the same summit offer insight into how Samsung constructed its pioneering ‘TriFold’ and how it compares to the Galaxy Z Fold7 (currently priced at $1,599 on Amazon).

Design Similarities and Differences

When viewed from the back, both devices appear nearly identical when folded. The first image below illustrates that the prominent camera housings are the only noteworthy feature on the back panels. The Galaxy Z TriFold also maintains the same LED arrangement as the Galaxy Z Fold7, along with a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner.

Thickness and Structure

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z TriFold is significantly thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which is expected given its additional panel and larger display. However, the outer edges of the Galaxy Z TriFold are noticeably slimmer than its inner section, suggesting that Samsung is making an effort to minimize the overall thickness. In fact, the outer parts seem thinner than the 4.2 mm sides of the Galaxy Z Fold7. Unfortunately, since the APEC 2025 event, Samsung has not shared any new information, but a recent sighting hints that a wider global launch might be forthcoming.
