Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition May Lack UDC Tech

Samsung has begun to hint at the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, a device that many have been eagerly awaiting. Despite numerous leaks that have revealed much of the hardware over the past few months, speculation about its features continues to thrive among leakers.

Camera Upgrades Rumored

Recently, leakers @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce made bold statements regarding the internal camera of the new device. To give some background, Samsung has utilized the Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology since the Galaxy Z Fold3, which is currently priced at $439 for a renewed version on Amazon. This has led to the company using the same 4 MP camera in all Galaxy Z Fold models released since then, including the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold6.

New Technology and Trade-offs

There are whispers that Samsung might introduce a new 5 MP internal camera and Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG) with the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. This new glass is expected to replace the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to help reduce the visibility of the display crease. However, it appears that this exciting camera and glass upgrade might come at the expense of the UDC technology.

Consequently, @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce now think that the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition could be the first model since the Galaxy Z Fold2 to come equipped with a traditional hole punch camera in its expansive foldable screen. Samsung is anticipated to officially reveal the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition in China and South Korea on October 21.
