Samsung has unveiled its 2024 FE model, the Galaxy S24 FE, featuring a chipset that is a scaled-back version of the Galaxy S24’s Exynos 2400 chip, now known as the Exynos 2400e. The company confirmed that the only notable difference between the Exynos 2400 and the Exynos 2400e lies in one specific aspect.
Performance Details
The Exynos 2400e has a maximum clock speed that is 100MHz lower than the Exynos 2400. According to Samsung, the performance core of the Exynos 2400e can reach a peak frequency of 3.1GHz, just slightly below the 3.2GHz of the Exynos 2400. Samsung clarified that the silicon itself remains unchanged, with only a minor adjustment made to the maximum frequency (Fmax) to optimize performance for mobile use.
Samsung has successfully enhanced the power efficiency and stability of its Exynos 2400 chip, allowing both the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the Galaxy S24 series to perform similarly in most scenarios. The reduced clock speed for the S24 FE is designed to improve thermal management, especially since this model has a less advanced heat dissipation system compared to the Galaxy S24 or S24+.
Expected Performance
The 100MHz decrease in clock speed is not anticipated to create a major performance difference when compared to flagship models. Furthermore, smartphone processors typically do not reach their peak clock speeds during regular usage, which is reassuring for potential buyers of the Galaxy S24 FE. It's also worth noting that overall performance can be adjusted in different ways without altering the peak clock speed.
Additional Features
In terms of features, the Galaxy S24 FE is equipped with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that supports refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The screen can achieve peak brightness levels of 1900 nits, providing a satisfying HDR video streaming experience. The device weighs 213g and has a thickness of 8mm.
Currently, the Galaxy S24 FE is available for purchase on Samsung's official website at Rs 65,999 (8+256GB), which is Rs 2,000 less than the same configuration of the Galaxy S24. In contrast, the S24 is smaller and lighter, featuring a 6.2-inch display and weighing just 167g.
