The wait is finally over for many gamers
After a long wait, GTA 6 pre-orders are finally going live in different regions today, allowing players to secure a copy of Rockstar’s highly anticipated game ahead of its November launch. Alongside the start of pre-orders, Rockstar Games has also shared fresh details about the PlayStation 5 version of the game. However, one important piece of information is still missing.
Rockstar details PS5 specific features
Through a new PlayStation Blog post, Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 has been designed to take full advantage of the PS5’s features. According to the developer, the game will deliver its best experience on PS5 thanks to the console’s hardware and immersive features. The company highlighted support for the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Players will feel responsive vibrations and dynamic trigger resistance depending on what’s happening in the game. The controller’s built-in speaker will also be used for certain sound effects and interactions, adding another layer of immersion.
3D Audio and SSD benifits outlined
Rockstar also confirmed support for Tempest 3D AudioTech, which will help bring the world of Leonida to life with more accurate sound positioning. In addition, the game’s massive open world will benefit from the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD, resulting in near-instant load times. However, there’s one major detail missing from all of this information: performance.
Performance specs like FPS are still unknown
Rockstar has not revealed whether GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS or 60 FPS on the PS5 or PS5 Pro. A leak from yesterday claimed that the game will include both Performance and Quality modes, but it didn’t specify whether the Performance mode would actually target 60 FPS. At the moment, this is arguably the biggest question surrounding the game. According to analysts at Digital Foundry, GTA 6 may struggle to hit a stable 60 FPS, even on the more powerful PS5 Pro.
- The PlayStation Store listing for GTA 6 was also updated today and now includes the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label.
- While that confirms the game will receive enhancements for the Pro model, it still doesn’t tell us exactly what those improvements will be.
- For now, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for Rockstar to reveal whether 60 FPS is actually on the table.
