Oppo has been dropping clues about its forthcoming foldable smartphone throughout January. Currently, only the Find N5 has been officially announced for release. Interestingly, the Find N5 is likely to be the foundation for a new OnePlus Open, priced at $1,298 on Amazon, since Oppo is the parent company of OnePlus.
Simultaneous Launch Possibility
To give some background, the Oppo Find N3 and OnePlus Open were both introduced on October 19, 2023. Oppo’s Zhou Yibao has suggested that a similar launch strategy could happen for the Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2, with a “global synchronous release.” While this could mean different things, it’s confirmed that the Find N5 will debut globally at the same moment as it does in China.
Expected Launch Timeline
Oppo hasn’t revealed an exact date for the Find N5’s availability yet. However, Yibao has hinted that it will officially be unveiled during the week starting February 17. This has led many to speculate that the launch could take place on February 19, 20, or 21.
Key Features and Specifications
In the meantime, Oppo’s newest teaser video has highlighted the slim profile of its latest foldable device. It’s said that the Find N5 will be slimmer than the Honor Magic V3 when opened, which measures 4.35 mm at its thinnest. Currently, both the Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 are expected to feature the 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, along with support for 50 W wireless charging and 80 W wired charging.
