ZTE's Nubia held an event today to unveil their inaugural foldable smartphone, called Nubia Flip. First unveiled at MWC 2024 and already receiving an iF Design Award, ZTE made waves when they placed this device within its mid-range price bracket thereby expanding accessibility for more consumers.
Nubia Flip 5G Specifications
The Nubia Flip features a classic clamshell design with an opening thickness of just 7 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 209 grams when closed. Additionally, its hinge made of space-grade steel ensures over 200,000 cycles of opening and closing without damage.
Display and Features
This device boasts a circular 1.43-inch AMOLED panel on its rear panel surrounded by an eyelet to serve as the camera module, offering quick access to notifications and essential phone functions. On its front, users will discover an FHD+ (2790 x 1188 pixels) AMOLED foldable display with 120Hz refresh rate that features 2160Hz PWM dimming support as well as full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage for quick use of front camera features.
Performance And Camera Capabilities
Under its hood lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC powered by Adreno 644 GPU and 4310mAh battery with 33W fast charging technology delivering full charges within approximately 73 minutes of use. Furthermore, NFC technology and dual cameras providing 50MP main capture plus 2MP depth sensors as well as 16MP front cameras provide photographic functionality as well. Available only in China in various RAM/storage configurations (8GB +256GB, 12 GB +256GB or 12 GB+512 GB options are offered). It comes equipped with both 50MP primary camera plus 2MP depth sensor features while offering 16MP selfie/video call capability makes for easier video calls or selfies/calling purposes.
Pricing And Availability
Pre-sales for the Nubia Flip have begun in earnest with its official launch scheduled for April 16th at 10 am. Pricing information reveals an 8GB RAM model paired with 256GB storage for 2999 Yuan ($415); 12GB RAM with 256GB storage priced at 3299 Yuan ($456) and 3699 Yuan ($511). Consumers can select their color variant between Caramel, Milk Tea or Taro when making their decision.
