Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Launches Globally with Upgrades to SoC

Nothing is continuing its innovation streak with the Phone (2a). Initially launched in March this year in Black and White, followed by an India-exclusive Blue edition and a Special edition with a multi-colored back panel, the brand has now unveiled an enhanced version named the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. This upgraded model brings several enhancements. Let’s dive into what this new release offers.

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Specifications

Maintaining its compact design, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus features the Glyph interface, a horizontal pill-shaped camera module, and a running cable on the lower half of its transparent back panel. The most striking difference is the metallic finish, which sets it apart from the standard version. The running cable also boasts a shiny metallic finish, and on the Black variant, it presents a dual-tone appearance.

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus retains the same 6.7-inch OLED screen with slim bezels and a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout. It offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,300 nits peak brightness, and an integrated fingerprint scanner.

Enhanced Camera and Performance

Regarding optics, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus features a dual-camera setup with the same 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The selfie camera gets an upgrade from 32MP on the standard model to 50MP on this version, ensuring higher-quality selfies and video calls. It also supports 4K video recording and includes features like Ultra XDR, motion capture, and night mode.

Hardware improvements are also evident in the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro SoC, an upgrade from the 7200 Pro in the standard model. The new SoC clocks at 3GHz, offering a 10 percent faster CPU and a 30 percent faster GPU compared to the 2.8GHz in the previous version. The device includes 12GB RAM, 8GB virtual RAM, and up to 512GB of storage, along with an advanced liquid cooling system for thermal management. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 50W charging support and runs on Nothing OS based on Android 14.
